TerrenceV2 2,001 Posted March 2, 2016 Share Posted March 2, 2016 DON'T DRAG ME ! I know this will probably be the unpopular opinion I know Gaga has been building her success during all 2015 and 2016. We all know that already so I'll go straight to the point. I was listening to BORN THIS WAY and the "Don't be a drag, just be a queen" lyrics hit me. I thought "Will we ever hear something as gritty and honest as this from Gaga"? Then I started thinking how I wouldn't like LG5 to be about safe, GP friendly bops (Like I've been wanting all this last year). Of course I want Gaga to show those beautiful untouched vocals on the record, but I want her to be at the top of her success like she is now and bless us with another polarizing, brave, controversial and revolutionary record like Born This Way, I wouldn't like her to follow the Adele route (I would nevertheless understand if she does this), I want her to follow the Lady Gaga route. And I've always said that she looks better elegant like what she wears now, but from tonight on, I want her to shock (sometimes) and give us a record like no other artist. To me Born This Way is her best record because she challenges the government, the social issues and that is brave and that's what solidified my loyalty to her. Government Hooker, Born This Way, Judas, Americano, so iconic, procative, "Gaga" slayers. I love how Gaga doesn't just talk about them but mocks them so fierce and powerful woman. What do you think? Safe in the sense that I'd be able to listen to her on the radio and watch her music videos on TV, but not going down a plain Jane boring route either. All in all I trust her judgement and whether it's safe or not I'll like/dislike it depending on way more factors than that anyway. To be fair to him, 'I wouldn't like it if LG5 was a safe record' and 'I don't want LG5 to be a safe record' can be construed in the same way, thus resulting in your first comment. Bradley 59,323 Posted March 2, 2016 Share Posted March 2, 2016 I think LG5 is going to be less about image and era, it's going to be more about the music, like how Cheek to Cheek was delivered. Back in the days, Gaga used to put in very much effort into creating the visuals, messages, fashion, performances of her old music, I feel like this time she wants to uphold complete authenticity of each and every inch of the music itself. Of course she's going to still shoot music videos and design choreography for her songs but I believe they will be less avant-garde. I expect Uptown Funk-type of music tbh. I mean Giorgio Moroder, Mark Ronson, Nile Rodgers these are artists that don't care about what you wear but what you sing and what you play. In short, I expect her to become the female Bruno Mars.
