She’s a survivor. On Sunday, February 28, Jaime King divulged in a revealing tweet to Lady Gaga that she was abused as a minor. The very next day, the actress took to Instagram to acknowledge the doctors and her famous friends who have helped her make peace with her past.

Inspired by Gaga’s powerful 2016 Oscars performance of “Til It Happens to You,” which was dedicated to victims of sexual abuse, King, 36, tweeted: “Thank you @ladygaga - I finally felt a true healing from years of abuse as a minor in the industry. Time to be brave.”

In a follow-up Instagram post, she called herself a “SURVIVOR” and then thanked the pop star, 29, for “breaking me whole last night and tonight!”. She also gave shout-outs to celeb besties “TS” (presumably Taylor Swift) and Lena Dunham, as well as the medical staff who have long stood by her side.

“Thank you to the only people I have told…Thank you to myself to not choosing to not make this a cover story though that was suggested to me but to express from my heart to you all personally which felt the most honest way for me to speak,” the Hart of Dixie star wrote alongside a throwback photo of herself. “Thank you to my Soul, body, mind, emotions, my inner child, my younger self, I love you.”

“Now I am free, somewhat. Thank you for the switch that went off inside finally when I realized my silence said I cannot help nor change and that is not who I am. I love you all very much for creating a safe space,” she concluded. “The time is now. I was about 14 here, it started at 12. Peace Be Still.”

So many people seem to be deeply touched by the performance. It's really beautiful.

Truly amazing.

You know what? We don't care about the Oscar. Let Sam have his moment. This is true victory. Her art, her musicianship, her values. In the end, all that matters is music and message. Gaga undeniably won last night.

And from a strict PR point of view, she comes off as having no personal interest in it. It comes off as even more honest and powerful.

Bless Jaime and Gaga

I was about to post this. Talking seriously, this is much more important than a trophy. Gaga's performance was by far the best of the night, not only because the people's reaction; but for the emotive response outside the theater. This woman's life can be a little bit more happier because of gaga's performance. At the end of the day, she won't remember who won the oscar. She'll remember that she was able to free herself because of TIHTY. Really happy for her!

right before they announced the winner, i texted my friend and told her "i dont care if she wins or not, this performance was everything we could ask for", and if it came down to either, winning the oscar, or helping people come as survivors and have media acclaim, i would not even consider looking at the oscar trophy. yes it would´ve been nice if we had both, but the win was just a mere cherry on top of a delicious cake on it own. people are pissed at the Academy, and they know who really deserved the oscar, and sometimes its better to have to people on your side, than to win and not cause an impact
