The guys at 538 have made projections of how many delegates each candidate in the Democrat/Republican race needs to win in each state based on demographics to be on track to win the nomination. On the Democratic side, it's easy to see why people are saying Hillary has won the nomination already. She scored as many or more delegates than she needed in 13 of the 16 places that have voted so far. Bernie's only done that in 3 states. This means Hillary has won 67 more delegates than she needs to be on track for the nomination at this point and Bernie has 97 less than he needs to be on track. That's a huge margin. Barring some health issue or major scandal, Hillary will be the nominee. On the Republican side, Trump is dominating even more. He has 37 more delegates than he needs to be on track for the nomination, but what makes it really good for Trump is that Cruz is a whopping 151 delegates behind and Rubio is a similarly huge 126 delegates behind. The only thing here, is Hillary was supposed to win those states. Bernie will end up winning states through summer, so the polls say. I can't say I have looked into which states he'll need to overcome Hillary, but it's still possible, especially if Superdelegates change their mind. If it's close and Trump is the Republican nominee, I could see superdelegates switching last minute, which they're allowed to do. It will be interesting.
