Hope 2,030
So everyone is discussing the loss, but I little heard about her vocals. What do you think were the vocals good or bad? What about the 2:30 part? What do you think about that part?
boobtank 9,090
I just LOVE that she took it there at 2:30, it was the life that the song needed to bring people to their feet, I'm so glad she didn't perform it how she usually does it, stand out performance! malazam 15,710
This was not about vocals...I mean, it was the message and the emotion in the peformance....it showed passion... and then Lucier got into her body, jk another shot before we kiss the other side
DietCoke 386
The way she sang it demonstrated raw emotion. That being said, she's done better.
weed 74,282
It was very emotional and real. I think she rushed a little bit at some parts, but overall it was really successful.
HighwayFantasy 2,015
I still get tears in my eyes if I watch the performance and she BLAST the notes out at 2.30. So good, so loud, so high, so emotional. It really makes the song so much stronger, like, the whole build up
MonsterMum 2,532
She was overfilled with emotions straight from the start, Im amazed she kept it together tbh. Who cares about the vocals when everyone praises your performance the next day. It's not just the vocals that make this thing to what it is, she got people crying in the audience, at home and the message across and that is what counts mostly here. Fernster7 7,923
Vocally it was not my favorite TIHTY performance but still it was super good, I loved the high note, I think the reason I don't like it the most it's because it was shortened. Monsters never die.
Red 98,200
I kinda think she screamed the last chorus but I think that's because she got emotional, she knows better than randomly screaming instead of singing If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating. That's why Idina Menzel ****ed up during her performance in 2014, the orchestra was playing in super-sonic speed and she didn't keep up. ashamednudist 164
it was epic + never heard that vocal from her, so raw
darkchylde 14,857
With all these hate to her vocals, I'm starting to wonder if this fanbase went deaf from listening to The Fame bland ass vocals for too long.
OMonster 14,720
Firstly, last night gave us an iconic Gaga performance. I feel this will go down as something to remember, and that is something I am glad we are all celebrating. Vocally, she was shaky. Truly, though, this really worked for me - it was beautiful to so explicitly see her emotion. I feel like that was her letting go off any false sense of shame or embarrassment she felt regarding her abuse. It was a very a freeing performance, and I think that was reflected in the intensity of her feeling. I mean, it was just so clear. The beginning of the performance was vocally flawless. It was insanely good. At the 2:30 mark I do think she began to lose it a bit, but a disaster it most certainly was not. Whilst the technicality of the vocal wasn't perfect, I feel that this was appropriate for the moment. There she was, standing side-by-side with her fellow survivors; liberated, proud and free from their abusers... I am kind of glad her vocal wasn't entirely controlled - it showed the truth of her performance. Overall, I think it was beautiful and I am so proud of Gaga. I cannot watch the performance and not smile. I am so, so glad she is free. subtext / fantasy
brendablethyn 536
"The off-kilter camera angle seen at home meant that the opening lines of her song were shot through a hole in a wall, which was knocked down so the crowd could see her behind a white piano. Gaga’s vocals were electrifying in person, more powerful than her “Sound of Music” tribute at last year’s Oscars, and the crowd gave her the second enthusiastic standing ovation. Her loss a few minutes later to Smith, for a mediocre Bond movie song, was one of the most puzzling moments, and further derailed the momentum inside the Dolby." http://variety.com/2016/film/opinion/oscars-2016-chris-rock-jokes-opening-inside-ceremony-1201718215/
REALITY 77,333
It was beautiful and amazing! The emotion and the passion Gaga had for this song and for the survivors was truly awe-inspiring. And, I agree that 2:30 was probably the best part of the entire performance. I'm not sure if it was a key change or if she just sang the song an entire octave higher or both, but it was incredible!
