BenG 19,908
Maybe the Academy wanted it to be disqualified gracefully?
Dorothy Gale 7,575
No, there was no proof that Linda Perry was right, and even in her words Gaga changed the song.
Noah 26,972
or they just nominated it because Gaga made the Oscars relevant last year ⟡ ⋆ ˚。⋆🦢⋆ ˚。⋆⟡
Greg 6,330
Why would they? And if they did, they would have had to have publicly disqualified it and withdrawn it from the nominations.

Harry 26,836
No if it was disqualified they would've just said. It wouldn't have still been in the running.
Guest
'Spectre' is a blockbuster, 'The Hunting Ground' is just a doc film! TIHTY nomination was an achievement! If it was about quality 'Manta Ray' should have won but I think it's all about the commercial thing
Infinity Wave 7,635
Could someone explain me why it should have been disqualified? What did Linda Perry say that we have no proof was right? I think I'm missing something Thank You! Colourful

The nomination itself and the invitation to perform for second year in a row was a way to say "thank you for last year's performance", which save the ceremony of being a total failure. Long story short, she didn't think Gaga deserved to be credited as a writer. "How can I protect something so perfect without evil?"

I strongly believe she did write the song (and I really don't think that in the music industry could happen something like that ) Colourful

The fact is we have no way of knowing how much she changed or added to the song, we can only trust that if Diane thought she should be credited than she deserved it. I strongly believe she did write the song (and I really don't think that in the music industry could happen something like that ) Well, I've said this in another thread before. But Diane said that Gaga completely changed the mood of the song from being very sad to being triumphant like a survivor. I think the first version had leaked before and I'd listened to it and it sounded really sad like she didn't wanna do anything anymore like Diane said. 너와의 어색한 침묵이 차라리 좋아
