That everyone is losing their **** and having a meltdown over Gaga not winning. But I recall when I made the thread about POC not being nominated, it was, "Oh! The Academy only nominates those who they feel should win! Blacks are just complaining just to complain. Why are black people so upset? Its just an Oscar?"  "They only nominated and award those who they feel are worthy!"

Don't get me wrong, I wanted Gaga to win as well but I can't help but to kii at how the tables have turned. Poor y'all.

I agree. At least Gaga was nominated, which is more than what most POC can say bc of the Academy and industry as a whole.

Lion Heart

Good point honestly.

Maybe the little monstas can now get an idea of how POC feel with the constant snubbing at the Oscars.

I get what you mean, an Oscar can surely change lives and give them major exposure but what it bothers me it's that people insisted on criticizing the Academy for not nominating someone who is black just for the sake of being black, they didn't give any examples or said why someone should be nominated. The problem wasn't the academy, it's the industry that refuses to give black people a major role that is not slavery related. Btw, I'm not white.

Whispering

So, let's go with this. If the #oscarssowhite problem isn't a systematic problem that needs reform from the top down, and it is some racist problem with the people who vote...are they also sexist?

Did the mostly male voters believe that a song about sexual assault was possibly attacking their male world? Could they not relate to a song that is about a cause that impacts more females than males? Do they not want songs from females that make them feel uncomfortable? Is Hollywood so rampant with sexual abuse, that the mostly male voters feel that if is a problem that should be pushed under the rug? Do they basically support rape culture?
