GP and monsters reversing roles?

I just wanted to acknowledge a phenomenon that has been occurring lately. I've noticed that Monsters and the general public seem to have reversed roles. 

I've been seeing the general public praising Gaga this year over and over, people who weren't even fans or who hated her are giving credit where it is due, applauding her as an undeniable talent, a skilled performer with vocals of gold. 

But monsters have been the ones to tear her down at every single chance they get. Fans are watching every performance with a magnifying glass and picking through every detail to find something, anything, wrong with it. Every performance, every photo, every event, everything she does in her personal life. It's her wigs, her fillers, her clothes, her dancing, her singing, the way she sings, the notes she might miss, the theatrics, the lack of theatrics, who she collaborates with, her acting skills, the places she goes, the people she hangs out with, the producers she works with, the photos she uploads, the the makeup she wears, her weight, she says too much in interviews, she says not enough in interviews, the f*cking piano she plays on... I could go on, and on, and on.

 

The dynamic has totally flipped on it's head and it BOGGLES, MY, MIND. 

I never, ever, thought at any point during her career in the past that the general public would love her this much, and that monsters would criticise her at every turn and act so maliciously.

And I just know, I ALREADY KNOW, that half of you have already skimmed this and have your fingers hot on the keyboard, with anger fizzing in your mind, ready to rebel against what I've said and tap out some negative sh*t below to prove some kind of point. I don't know how our fanbase became like this. I just wish we could all be more open minded and accepting and less judgemental.

I think when we are so involved in Gaga's career as spectators, it's easy for us to make judgements. I don't think there's anything wrong with not liking something she does, or giving criticism. It's all a matter of opinion. Being open minded is to be able to see the good, the bad, and that which could be improved. We're fans, we want the best possible Gaga she can be.

I love Gaga and everything. But LM (a really big part of the fanbase at least) are just criticizing every five seconds. If it's not Gaga herself, it will be other celebrities. 

Let's take Katy Perry for example. Whatever she does, LM will just fall upon her, judge her and even insult her. 

What Gaga tried for so many years to tell us : don't judge, be respectful, etc; they are not listening.

But how do we know that someone on here is genuinely a LM or if they're just passing as one, and saying negative stuff just to give everyone the impression that LMs are rude or whatever? Most people on GGD are not Little Monsters. They are not Gaga fans. They are just here to trash talk.

Its because all monsters seem to care about is her being "back on top" instead of actually just sitting back and enjoying what she does. To a degree I almost hope LG5 and it's singles aren't commercial successes because than maybe all the fans that are so worried about numbers and "the GP" will vanish, leaving only the fans that are here because they enjoy Lady Gaga and her work for what it is - not how much money it makes, not how many awards it gets and certainly not whose career she "slays".

Just look at all the so called monsters trashing Sam Smith - all he did was win for his song? What did he take way from you that you didn't already have? Did his win somehow erase all copies of TIHTY? Did it somehow lessen the message of that beautiful performance?

You don't have to like everything she does - but for the love of God, you are not her manager, it's not your job to make her decisions. It's her career - not yours. Not ours. We are the very group that all of you so callously refer to as "the GP".

The ones who relentlessly trash talk Gaga are not real Monsters. They're pretending to be Monsters so they can write immature things and have everyone think that Monsters are bad. I hate those fake Monsters! Thank god the GP are realising their inner Monster is beckoning...

We've been subject to torment and people putting Gaga down and saying she's over for the past 3 years and it's obviously going to take a toll on how we perceive Gaga to be. Every post on here that is critical of Gaga always seems to be concerned about how what she did is going to be perceived, we are worried about her comeback and if it will be successful, nothing is ever posted to drag her or to put her down but rather in concern. People only really erupted after the Bowie tribute because it was very controversial and had very mixed reviews (mostly sparked by Bowie's son); other than that I don't see people doing much else.

I put it all down to self consciousness on behalf of Gagas career as a result of all the torment we have been put through since ARTPOP.

I agree. It's confusing that ever since Gaga has gotten better support from the public this fan base has actually gotten worse instead of better. I mean we've always been a little messy, but the awfulness seems to have reached new heights in the last few months. I think it's because fans are extra sensitive after the beating that was the ARTPOP era, and now they're super critical and prickly about everything because they're afraid that any imperfection from Gaga at this point could ruin her "comeback". 

What they don't realize is that Gaga doesn't have to win, or get universal praise, or have a perfect wig line to maintain her legacy. It's all petty in comparison to her talent. Talent always wins is a bad catchphrase because if you have talent you don't need to win. Gaga is already validated by talent alone. People who get nasty about these things lack validation in their own lives.

But think about it. Out of all the Gaga fans out there, only the really obsessive, paranoid Monsters are on GGD. Why use their behaviour as a reason to wish Gaga bad commercial performance? You really want to punish Gaga just to punish those obsessive fans?

Totally agree with you. As long as she is happy, that is ALL I care about - and lately, that's all I've been seeing - is her happy and smiling. 

Some of these "little monsters" have too high expectations, and when they don't get what they want, they're mad at Gaga... doesn't make sense to me.

Sure, I have points where there might be a thing or two I don't approve of Gaga, but I support her all the way. I care about her mental health and I want her to be successful. Sure, Sam Smith won the Oscar, but Lady Gaga's performance was the spotlight of the ceremony. It made me cry because it hit so close to home to me.
