Lord Temptation 11,209
Forget about the bling. All that matters is that Gaga made the whole room cry. That's how much power she has. She doesn't need the validation of an elite group of wealthy hypocrites. She's got something money can't buy: the ability to reduce a person to tears. Or perhaps, Lady Gaga is (in their eyes) very talented, but they want to give the oscar to Sam, the underdog? They seem to give multiple Oscars to one artist/movie every year who lacks a bit of talent (Gravity for example, too much hype for a simple movie). It wasn't too political. It's not a very good song as far as Oscarworthy. Gaga singing it elevates it, but there just isn't much to the song at all. Still, I thought it would win, because the other songs weren't great either, the ones I heard, and Diane had been nominated so many times before. I thought they would reward her with an Oscar even though this song wasn't her best. Just because it has a great message doesn't mean it's Oscarworthy. But they had a weak lineup this year for songs, so I thought they would get it. But the bulk of the song is just repeating a couple of the same lines over and over. That probably turned the Oscar voters off. I don't know. Gaga is young. She's fine. She will have another shot. Diane at her age and all of her nominations I feel bad for, which I'm sure that's probably how Gaga feels also.
