I think she changes it from the nasal area to a throatier area, but that's just my guess.. I'm no expert

The larynx moves the same way and there's a bit of a break in the sound. It's not very healthy if used many times. When a baby cries, it's usually weeeeheeee, the h is a glottural sound for the baby to create emphasis in it's little drama. So does Gaga I still have no idea what you are talking about. I'm starting to think we're talking about different things. I'm talking about 1:30 of Star Spangled (vevo video) and 3:40 in Imagine video. Star Spangled: She sings something close to "in hair", rather than" in air". In english, speaking, what you do is blend them and it sounds like inair. But she's breaking the flow of air, giving a slight stroke on the throat to give emphasis to the text. There's a blockage in the throat when you make sounds: the "ha" like in haha (laughing) or uh-uh (like when you do when you're dog tries some cat food) Imagine example: You have 3 notes. She sings a brotherhood of Ma-Ha-an, this if you're english. The h is produced in the throat. It's coup glotte or shock glottis. I give up if you don't understand.. hELXIG 43,033
You mean when she transitions instantly and seamlessly from one note to another, without any vibrato? I like that too, it's very impressive! I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
giskardsb 12,565
Are you talking about the downward inflection at the end, the falloff after holding a note? if so that's a definite Gaga dramatic thing she borrows from stage singing. It's definitely a marking characteristic of her style in dramatic songs. She's done it all through her career.
mee 381
She has a strong but pleasant vibrato and her emotional apect in her voice is incredible. Her technique is excellent and intelligent, but it never locks up the emotion. Hope she makes some dancefloor anthems with her dark full emotional voice, her voice shines the most in it. Good to get rid of the Dope image > DopeVoice btw: i like Dope, it's good and not boring as some other stuff on ARTPOP Gagas voice shines also in her soulful operatic timbre, like on Imagine in Baku.
