America will get what it deserves this November. I'm pretty sure Clinton is the next president, so don't you worry. I am aware of those who are independent, but the desperate transparent anti-Clinton smear campaign that republicans (which is expected tbh) and Bernie supporters are perpetuating, you'd thing everyone is a republican and the only democrats are Clinton supporters. And I agree, the US will get what it deserves come November, Hillary is the appropriate successor to president Obama.

Integrity or not, he is lousy at his job (legislation). So nice guybut lousy congressman does not equal good president. If we elected presidents by your standards, Mother Theresa should be president too but guess what, she is not qualified for the job. Hillary could be the antichrist for all I care but if she gets her job done then that is who I want to lead this country because at the end of the Hillary is QUALIFIED to be president. Didn't somebody a few pages back list a series of things Bernie has accomplished/had an impact on? Bernie is just as, if not more, qualified than Hillary. Again, Hillary, in my mind, is in bed with big money. She stands for reform; Bernie stands for revolution. This country needs a complete overhaul, not incremental steps in the right direction. This statement has never made sense to me. Politicians are supposed to represent the people. As soon as the stances of the people evolve, their representative should adapt as well. It's pretty funny that many like to think that politicians should be ahead of the people and always lead the charge. That's completely hypocritical regarding wanting them to be FOR the people as opposed to imposing their ideas on anyone for good or ill. Hilary is a centrist politician that searches for compromise. She's what a true politician should aspire to be. People like Bernie are rebels because people like Hilary exist. Politics would be an anarchist mess if every politician had some crazy ideas about how to reform the entire country. I know we all like to be progressive all the time, but conservatives have their place. They're there to tell the progressives to hold the **** up to let society catch up first. It's why I don't have any grudges against conservatives, unlike most of you. Hillary's a centrist. She's both progressive and conservative. She will always serve the people as they are TODAY. That's one way to do it, and it's hardly wrong. It might make her seem "fake" to the progressives (and conservatives), but I suppose that's the hit you take when you aren't an extremist (like Bernie) who can afford to be honest, pure one-issue politician with no friends. I'll give you that... but I feel like it's only applicable in certain situations, such as the same-sex marriage issue. Back when cigarettes were the rage, I'm sure the views of the politicians of the time reflected their people. That was not a good thing. I think it's the job of our statesman to examine the evidence, analyze the situation, and make a choice. In a situation as divided as gay marriage, where somebody takes their stand says a lot about that person. Again, we're not just electing policies, we're electing somebody who is going to represent the United States in the world for at least four years. Are we going to choose a Richard Nixon or a Calvin Coolidge? Hillary Clinton might get things done, but at what expense to our democracy? Who is she bought by? We live in consequential times and we can go for a complacent leader or one who has a clear vision for where America should go.

I'm not tied to a party, especially during local elections. (Republicans aren't as....ultra-conservative, tea partyish...at the local level) If there was a moderate Republican viable candidate, I would consider them without having any reservations. It does seem that the GOP, as a whole, has become too extreme right for me lately.

I would refrain from using smoking as an example in any discussion like this. It's a notorious exception to the norm. Everyone knows it's unhealthy, but it's simply impossible to ban its use given the consumer base. You then employ a better example regarding gay marriage. Hilary simply held a conservative viewpoint regarding this issue. Meanwhile, many of her other policies are progressive. As a centrist, she will obviously tend to have viewpoints with either stance. In fact, I'd argue that she is doing what democracy sets out to do, which is to give everyone a piece of the pie. One can easily make the argument that Bernie's revolution is nothing more than the ramblings of a tyrant who wants to bend the entire country to his will. Edited just now by LebaneseDude. Lol Why in the world would Trump choose Marco. lol The RNC wanted Jeb Bush to be their nominee, and then out of nowhere comes Donald Trump who literally stole the limelight from all the other Republican nominees. Now with Bush out the RNC/ Koch Brothers/ Karl Rove/ Fox News are all lining up behind Marco Rubio, a Junior Senator who was a terrible voting record, and as far as am concerned just memorizes a bunch of talking points given to him by his advisers- a literal puppet. That's why Rubio received WALL TO WALL coverage on Fox News on his 3rd place victory in Iowa, and has been getting a bunch of praise for his mediocre performances lately (although Chris Christie did threw a major blow to his momentum a few weeks ago). Anyway the RNC wants someone they can "control" and Donald Trump is literally out of their reach. There's already rumors that Koch Brothers are planning on spending $75 M in attack ads against Trump, and if Marco can't win in Florida, they're planning on drafting Mitt Romney. **The RNC also doesn't like Ted Cruz, but if Ted were to drop out chances are his supporters will flock over to Trump. The GOP is self imploding. The next few weeks will be interesting. ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀
