many of them ain't even threatening

I mean Mariah, Xtina don't even have a chance to win

and by now, Ri's Anti is arguably a flop that her billboard 200 no.1 week's sales was even lower than C2C

I don't think it's that difficult for Gaga as a highly acclaimed singer lately to perform bad at charts

Work did peak at #1 and Applause didn't. So Rihanna is a threat. I love both artists though.

Too commercial with no artistic value - might sell well but critics might resent this and she won't have many opportunities at award shows if her music has no artistic value at all

Too artistic with no commercial qualities - if they underperform on charts despite being great songs, award shows probably won't notice them and not many singles would be produced since it's limited by bad commercial performance

I'd say to stand out, a balance between these two qualities has to be achieved. I also want her to make music that would appeal to straight people/the GP and that covers a wide demographic. Justin Bieber was hated so extensively a few years ago but now even straight men publicly talk about him with no one opposing him at all. If Bieber could do it, why can't Gaga, the queen of electronic music (a very masculine genre in my opinion)? Mark Ronson is helping her do that.

People of all ages and sexual orientation loved her Superbowl performance because she was appealing to them, her new music must too.

I said Rihanna is a threat because you said she wasn't. :rip: What are you trying to prove? I wasn't even talking about Gaga.

cause I meant gaga could top whenever she wants by just releasing some party girl songs, or something about sex, dance, drugs

If Bieber could do it, why not Gaga? With the amount of big names we've heard in association with this new album, I'm optimistic for its outcome both commercially and artistically.

She didn't in 2013... :toofunny:

She is now in a whole new (and better) place emotionally and artistically. Working with Tony really gave her a confidence and an assertiveness and shes just more mature in general. I think we can expect something way more mature from her this time around.

OmgSum1Actually

I think she needs a good lead single, something relatable without being Apple Music or Tidal exclusive or something like that and I think she's set for a #1, I mean she's now in a really great position..

To be fair, Rhi had NO competition. When applause was released, we had Katy Perry, Blurred Lines, Miley Cyrus, etc. Im certain that work will not sell more than 2.5 million singles in the u.s., unlike Applause, which it did.

Let's be real, her only competition right now is Beyonce
