Look, I think there's nothing she can really do to make sure that the GP will like it or that the fans will like it...it's always a gamble. So I think she should focus on doing something that she likes and that speaks to her first and foremost.

At the same time, I do understand that she needs some commercial success with this next album in order to sustain her career as it is, or else budgetary limitations will force to become a different act (which in her case might even be a good thing, but let's not go into that), so I also think with her next album she should keep her idiosyncrasies to a minimum and avoid referencing the people she looks up to (her fans usually don't care about them and it often ends up in drama)...

You can have an eclectic album but still have a standout dance hit for the masses on your hands, just not cutty-cutter, so it fits in with the rest of the album.  Bowie had it with Young Americans with Fame on it.

Her ARTPOP can and will mean anything. Who really knows? She'll make the record she wants to make. Not because of us, not because of the general public. It's obvious she's done listening to outside opinion.

Btw, success doesn't have to be generic. You can have style and substance. If Gaga ever did that at this stage in her career, she'd be a sellout and I'd lose most of my respect for her.

True...but I kind of wish her albums were not as eclectic as ARTPOP, for example...
Some firm direction and cohesiveness would be great this time around.

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

I agree.  I want cohesiveness above all else and not bloated.
