NME: Lorde's Bowie Tribute Better Than Gaga's

Which do you think would inspire young people to look him up?

The one that showed him as a performer and visionary, or the public poorly sung funeral? That's the size of it.

I've been a huge bowie fan since I was born and cried for days in January. Gagas tribute reminded me why he made me happy. Lordes performance seemed like it wanted to make me cry, but didn't because I didn't feel his energy, I was disconnected from it because it felt like any other cover.

Nme don't know what they're talking about unless it's got a trendy beard and hat.

Can we just move on? Lorde did fine and Gaga did fine, none of them are Bowie. But Bowie fans should be glad that their idol is still remembered as a great visionary by great modern artists and not as a child molester.

Ouch! I was going to like your comment, but then there was this part. I don't know how to feel about this, tbh. Do we say "child molester" if the girls were 14 or do we say Bowie committed statutory rape? IDK. :wtf:

Is there any difference? Having sex with a 14 year old girl is as ****ed up as having sex with a 13 year old girl.

Are we really gonna get technical about rape of a minor who is barely a teenager? What happened to Til It Happens To You and #FreeKesha/Let'sBoycottDrLuke?

I agree to some extent, but I don't blame Gaga, cause she is not the only one responsible for how the tribute turned out. But sadly it definitely was all about her, since they first announced that she was chosen: lady Gaga is doing a tribute, what will she look like, what will she wear, what and how good will she sing, is she the next Bowie, is she his biggest fan etc? Sorry, but it was insufferable, the tattoo on her hip making it even more about her and how influenced she is by him. It was all a bad move, publicity wise and the show was simply not good and had nothing to do with the spirit of Bowie. They made it about her, cause they wanted that young audience. I'm sure Gaga would have come up with something different if she was the only one responsible.

There is quite a difference. Both are bad but it's not the same thing.

I'm just asking...is it statutory rape or child molestion? I'm not defending it!

Found a good definition:

Statutory rape generally refers to a sexual relationship with a minor who is past the age of puberty. This offense typically involves sex between a legal adult and an individual who is below a designated age that is determined by the state statute.

lol,of course he did.Let him enjoy his  few minutes of relevancy.

I have to ask, how dare you amoung other critize Bowie's SONS opinion like this and diss him?!  He NOR Bowie's family liked Gaga and its their opinion that matters. And Bowie's family liked and approved Lorde's tribute and it was The official one, so to speak. Even Iman commented on tjis unlike Gaga's and the official site linked it. Dealt with it. Bowie was close to Lorde and praised her and his band played with her... So yeah, how dare you. Its The family's and friends opinion matters, not your or any other monster.

(Btw, I did enjoy Gaga too for different reasons than Lorde. Its nice that many sides of Bowie is remembered. But point being, Bowie's family considered Lorde "official". However. NME is still trash)

Yes. So did Jimmy Page and many other of rock stars. Google "Babie Groupies" and you'll probably get the full story and list of people involved.

A child is someone of 13 years old or younger, the girl he rapped was 14... Legally there may be a difference, technically and morally there isn't.
