Looks like performing Bowie tributes is the thing now 👀

Many tributes have been planned since his death that will be coming around soon.  The Grammy's happened to be first and fit in tributes for some of those that died recently.

He's a national treasure to England.  What did you expect?  For them to ignore him on this show?  He was a huge selling artist in England.

What people seem to forget with those tributes is actually who was David Bowie.. People want those tributes to be classy, to be sobre, to be everything but extravagant, everything but a show, but David Bowie was the showman, he was a performer on top of everything, he made freaks feel cool ! I don't want some red lights and a girl in a white t-shirt, that's just ignoring Bowie's legacy: I want a tribute to what David Bowie represented !

But he was much more than a flashy show with costumes, it was only one part of his career, and he has continued to do much darker and simpler shows/performances/albums/videos etc, so Gaga only represented one side of his persona, and this presented a different side.

You're on a roll, girl. Drag my sorry ass!!

Now i have to comment...

OT: Lorde seems to still have some soup to eat. I find that falsetto funny, when the late David would still hit the high note, even when older. This is just weak, she doesn't give life to the song because she doesn't have the voice.

1. you can't compare this to gagas tribute because they were very different

2. can we people stop sucking people's hemorrhoids just because they like them?

3. this performance feels like a pathetic responce to gagas, because gaga didn't invite everyone bowie worked with & didn't feel like doing something "artistic" (lame & boring) and instead did something stupid (fun & enjoyable, while trying to capture all the facets of bowie) but i guess that won't be worth to all types of critics because they have to love the "young mega talent"

When are they going to put the full thing up with people giving speaking tributes to Bowie?  I want to see that.

Edit.  Here's the tribute by Annie Lennox and Gary Oldman, an actor friend of Bowie's.  I teared up.  But I laughed when he said he sent Gary an email telling him he had cancer, but that at least he has his cheekbones back.

To be honest, I wish Gaga had done this and I said so after her performance as well. One song would have been better, methinks and not the jerky transitions. This band had a great sense of making a medley. I don't like Lorde's voice very much, but the actual performance was very Bowie in that it was about doing something musical first and foremost and everything else came out of that.

The issue I had with Gaga's was that she sang most of it well, but got drowned in the theatrics and sprinter's pace it was all going at. She has phenomenal stage presence and a powerful voice and I wish she'd utilized her talents better. I totally say Gaga did amazingly considering she had to incorporate Intel's lackluster crap, plus come up with it in under a month and please the Grammy's people, but as an overall performance, I liked this tribute better.

I mean, look at this band 1) They are one of Bowie's bands, and 2) The way they maneuver and segue into each song is masterful. They get it where I don't think the music of Gaga's came together as well. It was very very frenetic. If she had stuck to one song, incorporated some theatrics and focused on not mimicking Bowie's voice, but doing her own thing like what Lorde did, I think she would have done even better because she could knock some of his tunes out of the park (like this one). Perhaps one day!

I don't understand people, since 2014 most fans have been complaining of Gaga because she's now a ''normal'' woman, but when she intented to go back to her own crazy self with the Grammy performance everyone thought it was too much.

Give me, her, and the world a break, please.

The bowie montage at the beginning almost made me cry

It was an okay tribute. Idk but Lorde's vocals always seem so strained. Anyway, it would've been great with gaga's vocals.

and

I hate how everyone pretty much pays dust to gaga. She just did it her own way, like Bowie did everything in his way. RIP king
