How is Adele a threat to LG5?

Yea I get how the market works, and usually the one with more mass appeal prevails, no matter who her contemporaries are (britney/christina, madonna/cyndi) 

Gaga lost her cool factor with BTW, so it doesn't matter if she's the only act out or one of many, I believe she'll sell roughly the same no matter what.

Now awards are a different matter.

My economy professor predicts Gaga to take over the market this year as she made people understand she's all about long-term quality so I have hopes that she'll do much better than before!

Yeah that's true, awards depend on how much critical acclaim/sales music gets.

She's tapered off massively single-wise after Hello. She can't pick up now. Gaga is safe. If she's released Hello at the same time as Gaga's lead single, it would've been a different story, though. Thankfully, we won't have another 21 vs BTW situation like we did in 2011. Thank goodness Gaga won't go head to head with her again. From here on out, Adele's focus is on touring for the rest of the year. That likely means barely any other videos or promo. Once the BRITS is over tomorrow, her promo train will have almost completely stopped as she has nowhere else to promote herself that she didn't do already with Hello.

I wouldn't be so sure of that this time around. The Vocal Performance category is defunct. She won't have any future singles big enough to get multiple nominations at the next year's ceremony either. All she'll be up for is the 4 big categories but nothing else and she won't go into 2018 with nominations either like she did with 21. And also, 1989 took home AOTY this time and if you look back in history, it's like an on/off commercial/alternative win year on year. 1989 was commercial, therefore, a commercial album is unlikely to win next year. And as this is also Taylor's second win, it's unlikely the academy will let another act take home a second AOTY win 2 years in a row. The statistics aren't in Adele's favour this time. Plus, there's still many more months ahead of us.

Gaga is probably gonna be strong with the same kind of public Adele has right now. More classy. I think they will believe Gaga has evolved into a more "rational" or "normal" person judging from the latest performances.

I hope, as much as anyone on here, that gaga takes over like she did during TF/M eras. But if you think the older generation that bought C2C or the middle aged mom's and dad's who enjoyed the superbowl, or the people who are finally admitting gaga has talent are going to magically buy her album, then that's wishful thinking at its best. Yea, perhaps she'll pull in a few more copies sold, but like I said, her image is slightly tarnished, and she's unpalatable to quite a few, so it doesn't really matter if she has competition or not, she'll sell the same amount with or without competition.

The sad thing is, Adele actively tries to be an album artist by sabotaging her own singles.

I agree with all of this, but still think she'll win something. Don't know if AOTY, but Best Pop Vocal Performance, or Song of the Year are pretty safe.

Obviously, 21's quality is unmatchable, but because of sales an impact, they will give her something.

I really think that 25 is going to fade away, it sold more than like any album i know and it doesn't seem like she's determined to continue promoting it cause she knows at this point boosting sales of something that's already been more successful than the entire market is kinda difficult to say the least. Unless she wants to gather single sales but that seems difficult too knowing that so many fans of her music already have the whole album. She's not the music video type of artist either, seems like.

 

However I would be shocked if she didn't win AOTY, i mean what better can be released than 25 anytime soon, to be realistic Gaga's comeback won't be as big even if you look at it from an optimistic perspective.

Oh, she could win something. But there's no guarantee. Some years, there was a massive album that was expected to win all the awards, but there was something that was even more awesome at the last minute that ended up taking all the awards home. It happens in other award ceremonies too, meaning someone goes home majorly disappointed. It even happens in stuff like the Razzies, but in reverse, obviously! And like I said before, the Best Vocal Performance category was cancelled after 2011. The award is now Best Pop Solo Performance, and it includes males and females (they used to be separated) and even instrumentals. This means you now have a lot more competition. And Adele's already won 2. It would be boring if she won them all the time.

She's going to take home all the awards. Period. It doesn't even matter if Jesus Christ himself comes down to earth and drops the greatest album of all time. She's still going to win.
