Losing Respect for Beyonce/Taylor

It would be nice if Bey did say something, I'll give you that. But that doesn't mean we get to give passes to other feminist musicians silent on the matter just because they're less famous. That also doesn't mean we get to dismiss what Bey and Tay have already done for feminism and for the good of the world in general.

And not you calling Taylor the "least feminist person we have in the industry today" when certain musicians have made misogynistic songs, videos, and comments in the last ten years. Yes, Taylor isn't a perfect feminist (who is?), but that doesn't make her the "least feminist," even when you compare her to other self-proclaimed feminist musicians. The only "blunders" that Tay has done since starting the 1989 era (as far as I know) is the Nicki spat and the controversy over "Bad Blood." Miley Cyrus and Lily Allen (for example) have done more controversial things (e.g. cultural appropriation) while being openly feminist.

+ the Katy dissing video when, apparently, feminists don't pit women against each other + her shading Kanye at the Grammys but disguising it as a "feminist speech"

What did she do in Cuba?

Nothing. She just went for vacation. It was something that the Cuban government then used as propaganda.

So because people don't Tweet about a specific issue they aren't real feminists? Come on now.

They should be speaking out on social media about this, but they don't have to.

And for someone's work to promote female empowerment to be degraded simply because they don't speak about an issue online is rather petty. I don't speak out online about every issue I feel some type of way about, and I also don't post online every time I make a donation or volunteer somewhere either- doesn't mean I'm not dedicated.

I would agree that Taylor's version of feminism is cringeworthy at best, but at least she inspires some people and makes them feel good so I won't knock her for that. And Beyonce is Beyonce. She conveys empowerment in herself, which can be considered selfish, but is also inspiring to some people so I won't knock her for that either.

Don't stars like Taylor and Beyoncé have very little control over their social media accounts and stuffs??? I remember Adele has litterally no control over her social media and she needs hand in paper works in order to tweet something on her own? Maybe their teams and companies  don't want them to do something, even Michael Jackson was stabbed by Sony and damaged his career back in the day during the Invincible era. Everybody has their own difficulties, don't just judge it by tweets, maybe they even give Kesha money or great lawyer to support them privately.

Adele has all the control she wants, she just doesn't care about social media. She never has. Beyonce hands hers over. Taylor is in complete control of everything she sends out.

No label or team is going to keep these three women from sending out something over social media.

Beyonce's a hypocrite regarding her stances.

Whatever I still listen to some of her older music but she has lost my respect for her over the years.

Regarding Taylor, she always seemed "fake" to me, but that's part of being in the pop industry. Haven't paid attention to her career though.

Beyonce is fake, it's all about the money.. thanks to her father and Jay-Z she's famous.. not her "feminism" but by men.

Taylor.. does she even a feminist? I consider her as a woman that still stuck in her sweet 16 birthday party..

I could play the moderator, I can ban you, die sis.

Are we really turning feminism into a competition of expected checklists?

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

I find it really hard to believe that she got raped by him to begin with, so I dont mind at all, they might be sceptical about it themselves. I'm also gonna go ahead and add that Gaga is taking advantage of TIHTY imo. :emma:

They are under no obligation to speak out, just as a rich person is under no obligation to give out to charity. Sure they are feminists, but they don't have to speak out on EVERY issue if they don't want to

Sorry, but what stops it from being both? Why could she not have made a female positive speech, while also hitting out at Kanye? Where did she try to disguise it as anything? If Kanye was a female, sure you might have had a point in that it's contradictory, but as far as I'm aware, feminists are allowed to be shady, are they not?

Nothing but the fact she became a feminist out of the blue
