Why are you treating Oscar win as a fact?

That only means she has high chances of winning. But anything could happen. Sam Smith could still win.

I guess I'm confident because I don't think "Writing's On The Wall" is a very good song, not because of her "chances" or any other superficial reason.  TIHTY is a powerful song with a good message.

awardscircuit has it predicted to win and i've been following them for a decade and they're always accurate.

Will Gaga go on stage if she wins? Or is it one of those awards that's announced before the ceremony like for the Grammies

She'll go up on stage with Diane. There'll be an acceptance speech and everything :flutter:

Edit: I have a really good feeling she'll win. If she loses, I hope it's to Simple Song #3. If she loses to Sam Smith or The Weeknd I will lose my sh*t.

I'm about 50/50 at this point. The academy are a bunch of internet trolls, they like to hype people up. But either way i'll win because the GGD meltdown will be legendary :stalkga:

I always saw her 7 nominations as a good sign she might get sympathy for her 8 nomination but now that you mention it, she lost 7 other times with great songs (better than TIHTY)... So yeah, they obviously hate her and maybe she's not that big of a plus with this crowd.

That's not true. The academy doesn't hate her.

You win an Oscar if you show your GREAT talent at first or then you win an Oscar after years of showing talent, it's a stairway to the top.

Leonardo is winning this year and not because of his good performance at The Revenant but his years of contributing to the cinema.

DW did it too, year past year she showed it, now it's time to get her recognition

I'm not trying to be a total downer, but I actually hope it doesn't win.

It is the worst single not only Gaga has ever released, but Dianne, too. I wouldn't want Gaga to win her first Oscar for something so casually uncomfortable. And I personally don't think Gaga and Dianne genuinely like each other. Sorry just my opinion....I'm willing to bet the two will never talk again after this promo is over, even if Dianne is giving advice on LG5...it honestly feels Gaga is just putting up with her.

I find the meaning to be important, but without the video I didn't really understand the connection.

If Gaga had never explained the song, then it would just sound like a very down tempo song about being misunderstood. Nothing about the lyrics specify it is about rape, so I don't think that is a win for that message. You literally have to know the context of the song to understand it is about rape because the lyrics themselves never really even hint at it being specifically about that. I think that is perhaps why so many DJs remixed the song and it was being played in dance clubs.....DJs saw "new Lady Gaga song" in their roster and just kept giving it basic house/trance remixes to exploit it because of Gaga's name on the track. They didn't sit around and read what the song meant or why it was being used in a specific documentary.

It also gets really repetitive and I don't like it being that repetitive when Gaga uses her "Dope" voice. It's annoying and limits her vocal range.  I really hope she avoids using this alto voice on her next album because it's the one style she does that I think she just can't execute properly. It sounds bad....and many have reiterated that.

You couldn't point out the song was about rape? It's not that difficult to point out the connection. Everything doesn't have to be obvious.

In my opinion, she has already won just by being nominated, but even if she doesn't win the actual award, I'm pretty proud of her. :)

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."
