While the sentiment to find, and end these terrorists is shared, the precedent this would set (essentially allowing the FBI & in turn the government to have a back door into one of the largest and most used mobile OS in the world) which has international security issues as well as privacy state wide to be completely destroyed. If you leave a key under the mat, a burgler can find it too. I stand by Apple and hope that this blows up even further and the FBI backs off. I like how they treat the people who are affiliated with them. My husband used to work for Apple too and I have nothing but positive things to say about how they treat others. Benji 20,113 Posted February 18, 2016 Share Posted February 18, 2016 Serious respect for Apple to fight this but if the states want access to what people are doing on their phones, they can do it easily without their permission. When your phone connects to a network, any information going to your phone and being sent by your phone goes through that network. If the states gets networks on board, they have got access, which they already probably do. I imagine this is just to make it "easier" to spy on users but still, it's not like them withholding their wishes will stop personal information from being spied on. Really, if you want to stay "off the grid" but remain using a mobile phone, you need one of the old nokias that were released before basic GPS was integrated. They may be able to get your sent messages still but it's near impossible for them to pinpoint your location inside of a specific area. Saying that however, there's no real need to worry. It's not like someone is going to check out your information for sh*ts and giggles. It's only ever used when severe criminal activity is suspected. I understand Apple's worry about hackers exploiting a possible backdoor... but you can still jailbreak their phones so it's not like hackers won't bypass whatever they put on their phones anyway. Well, a matter of profits isn't even singular to Apple. If they unlock the phone for the FBI, then every tech company will be forced to follow the same precedent. Apple would lose money, but the entire industry would also lose money. This article sounds like it's being biased towards the FBI, trying to get people pressureing apple to comply.
