i've watched this tribute performance like 300 times now, but this still puzzles me.
what was the "tribute to the tribute"? - a scrapped idea because of late technical difficulties?

keep in mind, this interview was given only a few days before the tribute and published a few hours before the performance.

what do you think was the "very interesting", "tribute of the tribute" ending?

To be honest i think something happened. They rehearsed for more than just this. Thats why monsters were a little un-impressed or underwhelmed. 

They probably had parts with the technology or choreo with it that they couldn't fully prove would work.
