I agree completely but a test, very basic test with skills that you learn from your parents such as decision making and treating people, would help make it a safer election so Donald doesn't win. I believe in mandatory voting tbh I appreciate your intent. I think education is incredibly important to being an informed and participating citizen. That being said, I feel that it has an IMMENSE amount of leeway to be misused. The least educated of us requires and deserves a voice. The least literate of us requires and deserves a voice. The most disenfranchised and jaded and marginalized require and deserve a voice. Any step towards the line of thinking that says "you must know _______ amount before you can participate" would be a step in the wrong direction. I appreciate where you're coming from, and I don't feel that you mean any harm, but this line of thinking is exactly the basis that so many voter-suppression efforts are based on. It's basically saying only people with the right kinds of opinions and morals could vote, and who's to say what the collective opinion on matters like that should be? You and I both know that stealing is wrong, and we all know that the "right" answer is to no steal from a 7/11, but quizzing people like that to determine if they should be allowed to vote is just...it's not right.
