Ryn Weaver says Katy Perry bullied her and stole from her

I'm not a Katy stan but why would anyone believe this woman, especially if they haven't heard of her? She's some random chick with a Twitter to me.

I might see if I can get people to believe a big name bullied me too with a few tweets.

Katy has been accused of acting less than amiable several times. And maybe equally as important, Katy Perry acts like a perpetual 15 year old girl. She also admitted to being extremely calculated when "making" songs (and by that I mean having Dr. Luke make them for her, because she wants to make sure they are hits). It shouldn't surprise anyone that she would ignore someone who can't help her get ahead.

Not to mention that this is word for word what people said about every single one of the women who came forward about Bill Cosby. Fame doesn't give someone credibility, neither does normality take it away.

if you are constant chart power, radio does tend to support the artist

she isn't the first person

Uncle was coming off from Roar, B'Day and TIHWD were coming off from DH which were massive

sometimes stronger singles eclipse their follow up singles

Yes, they do...but the tremendous support she had for songs that were not connecting with the listening and buying public showed that legal payola was involved. No one said she was the only artist that receives this payola benefit, just that she is one of them that does.

BD and TIHWD were fourth and fifth singles, coming after a second single that was a marginal success. They still pushed those two singles like they were the debut single of a pop superstar, or like they were sitting at number one on iTunes. Everyone that follows charts on radio forums noticed the questionably high support and was discussing it. I can't remember another time I've seen a fourth and fifth single pushed that hard, that fast, especially when it clearly isn't connecting.

Radio payola is a tactic used by the major labels. When an artist is supported far beyond their general interest level is showing, especially on later singles, you can logically know that some form of payola is involved.

I know what payola is:rip:

The truth is songs just don't sell like they used to

e.g. Break Free peaked at #4 on Hot 100 yet has only sold 1.7M so far:rip:

Your comments aren't showing that you understand what it is and how it works.

What do songs selling have to do with payola. The comparisons to other songs at the same time and with the same AI show that listeners were not interested in the songs to any significant degree.

she isn't the only one who gets unusual radio support:rip:

because of her past chart history, radio stations are more inclined to play her songs:rip:

She is the one that got record setting radio play increases for songs that weren't appealing to listeners. It was obvious to anyone that was closely following the charts daily during that time.

How many pages do you want to go with this, because I can go for hours.

Bey's Irreplaceable also set airplay records even while it was new despite the fact that the previous two singles didn't fare well

Rih's Rude Boy also had a similar chart run

if they can set records after coming from underperforming singles, so fast, why can't Katy?

They were selling well and/or doing well on other formats outside of or along with pop formats and/or had good call out scores....all things that translate to radio AirPlay. Why are you even bringing up songs from seven or eight years before BD and TIHWD? That was a whole different world, as far as album and single sales!

BD and TIHWD were underperforming singles...not "coming from underperforming singles".

Katy has record setting increases for singles that were not connecting with music listeners and buyers.

not when she has huge streaming

TIHWD has over 500M views and B'Day's lyric video is VEVO certified (lyric videos usually don't cross 100M)

and PRISM was one of the best selling albums of 2013

and deny DH was still massive when B'Day peaked, and was still in T40 when TIHWD peaked

(DH was actually higher the week TIHWD peaked)

Bigger hits tend to shadow follow up and an era like TD comes once in like 50 years or so

Yeah, all of that was factored in. Her radio increases were still way off for the reception from the listeners...and that included streaming.

You are going to be unraveled when Katy drops her next album, if you get this worked up over legal payola. This next era is gonna be a blast! :yay:
