MMLY Hit?

  1. 1. Do you think MMLY is going to be Gwen Stefani's comeback hit (Top 10 song or a long time in the Top 20)?

With the release of Gwen's second single "Make Me Like You" (I really see it as her lead, with UTLY being a promotional song) to her upcoming album This Is What The Truth Feels Like, the question comes to mind, "Will this be the comeback hit". I consider a hit to be Top 10, maybe Top 20 if its in the Top 20 for a while. This song is certainly her most radio friendly song since her last album, sounding like songs like "Sugar" and "On My Mind". The live video last night was a huge risk and home girl delivered, making her trend on Twitter for HOURS.

The song currently sits at #10 on iTunes.

I, for one, thought her new song was catchy and had potential. I don't know if the masses are here for it or her but I know I am!

I love Gwen, and as much as I do, this is just not on par creatively like her two previous albums.

It feels very generic for her.

This might sound weird: for a young girl with a limited discography like Selena or Demi or Meghan I would say it's a bop and could be a moderate hit, but knowing Gwen's previous work, this feels like a setback.

I don't think so. The song is good and is a nice throwback to The Sweet Escape sound, but it's been 10 years since that sound was popular on the radio. The new generation is dominating charts, and Justin Bieber is currently the eye of the hurricane right now.

Sadly, this happens to a lot of artists. They have an amazing peak, then 10 years later they're not as popular as they were. They do make good music but they're not the center of attention anymore. I HOPE she does get the success she deserves, though. And I can actually see another Sweet Escape/Loose/Dutchess trilogy in 2016 like they did in 2006.

No. I just don't see it for Gwen. She should focus on her fashion and just release singles for her fans every now and then.

It's science, bitch

You just can't take a 10 Year break and expect to pop off as a 40 Year old doing pop music.

Madonna got away with it by dropping music consistently and stirring up controversy. In Alot of ways, she created a voodoo and taboo around her name that even the next generation was fascinated by.

None of these artists like Gwen, Ferdie, Christina will ever blow up doing pop again because they are not consistent, take long breaks, and don't have a legendary-ness surrounding them.

That's why Gaga is fine. Very early on, she cemented her place in history. You never know what to expect with her, and people like talking about her weirdness whether they support it or not. Madonna did the same thing, except she did it with sex instead.

Whoever comes up with the next great gimmick, will be a legend.

I seriously don't get Maroon 5. Either choose to be a band or have Adam Levine go solo. Is there even a use for his band anymore. 90% of their last two albums were synthetically produced with minor drum and guitar.
