The best performances are never overhyped.

Her best performances are the ones that didn't need hype from sponsorships or any other platform. If you were a Gaga fan back in 2009 you'd know that she kept the 2009 vma performance TIGHT LIPPED. The only thing she said was that it is going to be a great performance and she's really excited for it. Once she did the performance, EVERYONE was talking about it. The performance was well executed conceptually and thematically. It was shocking, disgusting, beautiful, breathtaking, theatrical, etc. None of us were expecting that level of impressiveness. Of course she was still "new" but us veteran fans were expecting a performance like poker face american idol or the mmva 2009 performance. It was brilliant and probably may never be topped. Her performances after this were all great because she didn't hype them up to be something out of this world. I stopped caring about her performances once she embarrassed me by performing as Jo Calderone.

Lady Gaga impressed me again since a long time during the Oscars 2015. There WAS hype but it was more "We know she's going to do amazing" but once she started singing I was BLOWN AWAY. All this girl needed to WOW people was a microphone and her angelic vocals. I was shocked that Lady Gaga did a performance that actually impressed me. The sound of music tribute will always be her best tribute performance.

Agreed. The hype isn't always good because it may not live up to people's expectations. At least, it wasn't her doing the hype this time :toofunny: She did what she had to and that was to do a good performance.

This fanbase is built up on expectations.

I'm here for surprise performances with very little input prior to them. To be honest, the way Intel was hyping up the performance, I was expecting some serious groundbreaking **** that would have had everyone talking.

In my messy era.

Yeah I'm blaming Intel. It definitely wasnt Gaga's fault. The performance was good for a tribute but Intel was very misleading in airing the commercials even AFTER it was announced the performance was changed to a tribute.

Damn y'all really don't have anything else to do. It's entertainment for gods sake. What's the point of it if all there's really to do is complain. Y'all take it too seriously.

Mister Gaga

I agree, but she didn't overhype anything...Intel did it by releasing all those amazing videos. I thought she was going to perform inside that cube! "Everything will change" it's impossible not to get hyped with that :crossed:

That cube was going to be used before.

Hype is ok, but you gotta deliver.  Avoid phrases like "Everything Will Change" and "uninventable, unthinkable, unseeable".

It really was an amazing performance that was hurt by the hype.

It seems some fans clearly don't understand that the performance was a big step to live music..

You just got the taste of the technology and the innovation in those 7 minutes.. this is why other musicians praising this performance, because they see something new that they understand better than us, something that very soon they'll be able to use in their own shows!

She was perfect, intel were perfect, I just love this performance.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Y'all can't blame Intel. They had to change everything. A butterfly dress and an interactive cube wouldn't have been appropriate for a David Bowie tribute.
