If a poor child has been taken advantage of the least the media can do is honor their pronouns and refer to them appropriately. Misgendering only adds further insult to the injury. The media can be MORE on the victim's side by referring to them appropriately- it's showing they care enough to do the extra five minutes of work required to get those words right. 

So she can be haunted by the memory AND the fact that her gender isn't recognized, or JUST by the memory, which is bad enough. I'd choose the latter.

The kid wasn't an unwilling victim. Although below the age of consent, consent was obviously given.

It already gave me quite a few flashbacks and none that I want to remember at all sadly.

The whole idea of the age of consent is that below that age you aren't mature enough to correctly make that choice. Consent was not given because their consent wasn't valid on any level.

Do you honestly think this was a case of "unwilling victim"? Knowing kids that age, they aren't oblivious children. They're sexually charged demons.

I don't want to justify it at all but the actual law should not be black and white here. There isn't some miracle that happens on a kids 16th birthday that makes them mature enough to give consent.
