Did my post sound "too SJW" for you? Tell me, what is your problem?

You almost entirely disregarded the real tragedy here for ripping on a tiny mistake some ignorant journalist made in passing. A child was raped. Your post wasn't "too SJW" it was a cheap facade of "SJW" hiding a dehumanizing lack of empathy.

It's best for young people to explore their sexuality with peers their own age, no question about it, but who is a peer to Herculine Barbin? Among this girls peers who would be interested in exploring their sexuality with a young pre-op trans boy who has a litany of mental health issues? She isn't "normal," neither is this Flanagan person, so maybe we shouldn't judge them according to the "normal" standards of sexuality.

I don't know the specifics of this case, so I could be very wrong, but I just think our culture can be too quick to lean back on our puritanical nature when it comes to sexuality.

Some poor child has been taken advantage of in the most tragic way possible and your first thought is that they were misgendered by the media? Is that what's important to you in this? A fixation on "progress"? This is a real person with feelings and a life who has been hurt. Do you think 20 years from now she'll be worried about that time the media misgendered her? Absolutely not, she'll be haunted by the memory of what happened. Grow the hell up and learn what really matters.

Don't you dare ****ing talk about transgender issues when you don't know how transgender people truly feel about being misgendered. I don't care if you have trans friends or a trans spouse or whatever. If you aren't trans, you don't truly get it. As someone who has been sexually abused before and is a trans girl myself who has gotten misgendered, both are horrible, horrible things to happen. The last thing someone wants when their soul is ripped apart is to have their identity invalidated.

This news item that misgendered her could very well haunt her for the rest of her life. Yeah, good luck going stealth if she wants to.

And if you're trans, your post was built on the assumption that every trans person reacts the same to being misgendered as you.

I know the subject matter is sensitive, but please be kind to one another in this discussion.

I'm trying my best to be kind in the discussion although I wish some people would be a bit less snide with their remarks and I relate to this post as well in a lot of ways.

Promise I'll always be there. Promise I'll be the cure.

I hope he gets arrested for a long time. Gross

He gets six years in prison. Nobody should have to go through being sexually abused at all though.

He's a former British football player, I think.

I didn't even know they had football. I thought soccer was the big thing over there.

Football is another name for soccer where they're at.

Please change the "femboy" in the title to trans girl. If what you posted in the OP is right, you shouldn't address the victim as a he.

"The complainant knew that he wanted to be female since he was 12"

Bear in mind, it says "had a sexual preference for pre-op transgender males". The victim had not yet transitioned.
