what happened to gaga's confidence?

I feel like after her acclaimed & successful national anthem + oscars performance + golden globe win she is feeling more confident & happy in her career and overall life, I know its silly but the fact that she went to Diplo's superbowl after party and enjoyed herself there was a big sign for me in terms of being happy. :nick:

REALITY

If anything, I think that Gaga's now more confident with herself than she's ever been before. I mean, she just performed the national anthem literally in front of millions of people—and she was amazing! Not only that, but 2015 was also an incredible year for her.

If anything, her during her Fame/Fame Monster eras was probably more of a facade to cement herself in a pop star legacy. I see your points, but Gaga will always be Gaga, and she'll never lack that confidence we've known for her for years.

2009-12ga is someone desperate to finally make their career work out and get everyone's attention that she so deserves, this means not being personal, it means being a fierce pop icon with nothing to lose.

2013-presentga is Stefani Germanotta, she seems much more comfortable being herself and displaying her insecurities without feeling the need to hide behind a persona, she touches on this slightly in her Yale speech, about blurring the lines between the hybrid of Stefani and Gaga.

.. at least this is what I have taken from her persona over the years

I agree.  In her early career, she was an image.  In an interview she stated "My fans expect me to be Gaga all the time".  So she was never "out of costume" so to speak.  Imagine the pressure of keeping this image 24/7 (she even claimed she slept with her heels on).  People thought she was on top of the world at the peak of her pop career.

But look at today.  She is becoming beloved for who she is as a person, just by being herself.  She is so praised, in demand for everything, and slaying everything she does.  She is engaged to a great guy.  It is now, at this moment, that she's on the top of the world.

I live outside the space time continuum.

Traumatic experiences can make your anxieties worse or atleast more noticeable. I know the feeling. It's a possibility. Idk

I agree with those who just think that she is being more naturally herself these days and has dropped the wall and studied image of whom she had thought that the world expected Lady Gaga to be at all times. I still see confidence and all other emotions that we all have, rise up in her, at different times.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

This is the best post I've seen in this thread so far and I couldn't agree with you more.  I also believe it's more beneficial for Gaga to let down the barrier that separates her from the rest of the world.  That makes her seem more human and someone with whom people can relate.

It's no surprise that the GP seems to love Gaga more now that she has opened herself to the world.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

That's kinda rude lol.

It's no disrespect to Gaga. It was just clear that she was putting on a mask and functioning in a very specific way in order to get popular. Sometimes her self would shine through (acoustics). It wasn't a bad thing. Hell it's probably what made her so famous.

She's way more natural nowadays though, and it's showing.

She seems way happier to me now without all that fierceness. To me, that fierceness was a front- not necessarily in a bad way, but just because she was probably more insecure before. She was probably trying harder then to hide it. Idfk, no one kill me please. The way I see it, she is acting more calmly and comfortably.

This 100x!

People mature and grow up. She's about to be 30, about to get married, about to give birth to LG5. Of course there will be changes. It may also be because of the people she hangs out with. *cough* Tony Bennett is like Santa. He's like such an awesome grandpa.

Earlier Gaga was a near 24/7 performance art piece in part to give her a confident looking facade that didn't really represent the sometimes insecure girl underneath. That was not sustainable or healthy. She is in a much better place now, although a good number of fans prefered the facade, partly because they looked at her as an example dealing with their own insecurities. Gaga though finally had to look behind the Aura and deal with her reality.  Eventually you have to deal with things truthfully to control them.  Part of that catharsis came through ARTPOP.

Are you kidding me?

She stepped out and slayed the NA in front of milions (billions, even). Her confidence has sky-rocketed this past 12 months - she's doing what she loves and she's excelling at it.

That whole 'reserved' thing.. it's called being humble
