MelbHawker 6,583
Gaga's stuck in the past because her custom Gucci suit is too 'Liza' and her hair is screaming 'Dolly', meanwhile Bey's connecting with the past because her outfit was 'MJ' and she apparently moved like 'Tina Turner'. I can't believe this article was approved to be posted. It's so stupid.

You think she's ever be invited back to perform at halftime if she pulled a stunt and disrespected America and our armed forces? Somehow, like always, you manage to have a wrong opinion. Huh. I thought it couldn't be done but here we are. I can't disagree with you, I have unpopular opinions. I don't value class, patriotism, or the worship of murders, so, I guess you hit the nail on the head. 8 minutes ago, MelbHawker said: I don't think that means the target consumer of a standards album is someone who drinks from Starbucks though. I was being hyperbolic to make a point about appealing to a certain type of consumer, I wasn't being entirely serious.

You are on a forum, the function of this site is to share opinions. If you aren't interested in what other people have to say then start a blog. As for your misinterpretations of my opinions... If she had done something ridiculous I would have loved it. My opinions are not formed by public perception or by media criticism. The target audience for basic collections of standards is the Starbucks customer, you are correct. That is why I would rather not see a Lady Gaga album sold at Starbucks. I love jazz, I hate redundant uninspired jazz, which is what Cheek To Cheek is. I don't want old Gaga back, I want her progress and explore her unique artistic perspective more deeply. I feel that what she is doing now is not progressive. In my opinion she has been showcasing her talent since day one, it's unfortunate that the public, and evidently people like yourself, were unable to see past the wigs and leotards. Bam. Exactly. If she's too provocative and trendy she's labeled "try-hard" and "grotesque", if she tones it down, now she's too "old/dated" and "living in a nostalgic state". I'm really starting to understand why she was on the verge of leaving the music industry now. Don't listen to anyone else but yourself, Gags. You're doing you now and reveling in it. Exactly. I live outside the space time continuum.

She's giving off a different vibe and it's off. Her NA performance had more views than the entire halftime show (110 mil) + 30 million views via internet. 140 million live views not counting the acclaim it is still receiving. (May I note it was the most watched NA ever and it was more well received than the halftime show. Countless people wanted her in the halftime show, so the demand is defenitely there.) She is cleaning her slate for the next era and reclaiming the mystique that everyone is intrigued by. This time it isn't because of her outfits or outlandishness--it is because she is proving to the world that, unlike the majority of her contemporaries, she has nearly unparalleled talent and artistry in the sphere of mainstream music and celebrities. Combine that with the showmanship and performance abilities she has, that will hook an entire new audience in for her next album/era and perhaps it create good-will with people that did not think too fondly of her prior to this strategic career "cleanse" (2014-2016). Besides, old folks have money to blow and legends don't become legends because one demographic chooses to recognize them as one. The music industry is weird as sh** and we all know that. After all of the brilliant performances, awards, and racked up acclaim, she is being very decisive right now and I have no doubt in my mind that her and her team have mapped out every single one of their next moves and the possible sequence-of-events of each. She's has very few moves left until she achieves checkmate. At that moment we will be swallowing our tongues.
llbcherry 591
This is just a different era with different styles and a different target market. Once she is dressing like Gaga again, and drops LG5... well..... you won't find it at Starbucks. And without all these sophisticated glossy looks, I think she will look like RegularGa (which, ironically, is what GP thinks/thought is WeirdGa!) I find the article really offensive. DrewStevens 5,249
The article is a mess, and this thread is a mess too. She hasn't released original material since ARTPOP so it's impossible to judge her direction until she has one. Right now she seems to be working on little things like Til It Happens To You, AHS and her performances at award shows to showcase her talents which were overshadowed by the gimmicks. Excuse her for not releasing new music where she sings about hot sauce and getting money from a bitch.

Shes trying to appeal to EVERYONE now, not just young flaming gays. Gaga trying to get support and change the way the 'older' audience perceives her is necessary ' to build a LASTING career. She doesnt need support from the young and 'cool' because they are so fickle and change trends constantly. If she has a catchy hit song, the younger demographics will be back on board again. The moment you enlist Starbucks to sell your album next to confections and gift cards you are no longer a transgressive figure in popular culture, you're a Basic Bublé Bïtch. Time to wake up Gaga. Edit: Evidently acknowledging the well known fact that Bublé is the cultural standard for basic bitches who release adult contemporary records is highly offensive, at least offensive enough to warrant an official warning. To the Bublé fan who I offended, I would like to apologies. If you PM me your information I will be happy to send you a Starbucks gift card, but only if you redeem it for whatever piece of ****, unimaginative, collection of jazz standards that is currently on sale next to the scones. love this edit :lmao: drag Ha!!
