Is that really true? I thought it was a huge honor and meant for singers known for their great vocals.

I kind of see what they mean but I don't think that she's really had much chance to do anything else? She can't be young, cool and edgy whilst delivering america's national anthem because she would be torn to shreds for it, same as performing with Tony Bennett etc. Even on tour with Tony, she wasn't exactly tame. SISTERV 3,887
They basically suggest, the world has decided Beyonce is the Queen, and even say Gaga is Vegas bound. They suggest Gaga doing jazz, covers, and "music from decades ago" is aging her, "makes her look 50" and that Beyonce is the future. It's the only negative press I've seen Gaga get in months and to say the least, it's a REACH, especially biased coming from The New York Times. I will admit in a sense, (NOT entirely), they are correct that Gaga doing loads of tributes and covers is beginning to get a bit too karaoke and cheeky. I agree that Gaga has embodied old school in an effort to win over older folks too much lately. She needs to move on from the jazz persona at this point. What I think the New York Times fails to understand is Gaga's ability to reinvent and WHY she has spent two years doing this....so people could hear her voice. The pop hits didn't do that for her and if she had put out ARTPOP Act II despite a dwindling era it would have been the dent in her career that never went away. A softened image is what she needed at the time. Gaga is, however, the modern Queen of reinvention. She transformed herself before fame from a Catholic conservative school girl to a bar scene metal head, then transformed into meat dress pop Gaga, and then into classy actress Lady. Do these people think she is incapable of reinventing again? I think we will see the transformation again at the Grammy's...something much more pop again. The New York Times fails to mention that their "queen" Beyonce, who they literally claim to be the center of the universe, has a new single "Formation" that failed to garner even 7 Million views in 24 hours (a feat that even Gaga's G.U Y. video accomplished) and that Gaga trended over twice as much as everyone at the halftime show, according to both Google and Twitter. I really don't intend on bashing Beyonce, but it seems like a Bey-Hiver wrote this article in how it glorifies Beyonce and even tries to compare her to Michael Jackson, then subjects Gaga into washed up Vegas zone. What do you think about the New York Times article? You can read it in full here: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/02/09/arts/music/beyonce-the-past-is-calling-and-its-lady-gaga.html?smid=tw-nytimesarts&smtyp=cur&referer=https://t.co/nATSCs4Eqv
