Sounds like a SJW, alright :emma:

Yeah when I learned about "social justice warriors" in catholic school they taught us about people martyring themselves for the rights of the poor and suffering.

I guess for some people it's easier to try and make a difference from the comfort of their office chair :emma:

Also, isn't it political incorrect to exclude people in a wheelchair?

Why shouldn't they have their own emoticon too?

Emma herself introduced it and was completely fine with using it. Other members in a wheelchair didn't feel discriminated against either, so I don't see the problem. It's about the way the emoticon looks anyway. I mean, it looks so shady yet so innocent and I just love using it with no bad intentions. Just like the rest of us. :emma:

how is it politically incorrect? It's an emoticon that represents a person in a wheelchair. Devoid of any other meaning. It's just a person in a wheelchair. If anything it's inclusive.

So you describe someone by his disability? The same way some people describe Adele... the FAT one! That's political incorrectness ! even worse..."the guy with one leg" .!

No, you use it to describe your own situation. Not someone else's. Say you read a post that made you break your hip. It would be a good time to use :emma: because the post made you break your hip. It has nothing to do with disabled people. I don't even know why you mention disabled people.

It's not ONLY about Emma (even if she's ok with that) but FOR ALL THE PPL W/ DISABILITIES. Totally politically incorrect!

But, it's a smiley face in a wheelchair. It's a rudimental, simple depiction like all emoticons are.

Is there such a thing as an appropriate wheelchair emoticon? Or are people in wheelchairs not allowed to be depicted as emoticons? I'm just not sure what's so 'politically incorrect' or offensive about the emoticon. It isn't mocking anybody... It's just an emoticon. Is it spreading some sort of awful stereotype about people in wheelchairs that I am not aware of?

There are people IRL who are in wheelchairs, their wheelchairs can be depicted in emoticons... To me it seems more inclusive than it does problematic.

How is it offensive? Isn't it offensive when we use "healthy" people emojis only? There are people with disabilities? Why should we ignore them? Like they don't exist and can't be an emoji

:air: doesn't mean you're literally an orangutan about to die.

:deadbanana: doesn't mean you're a dead banana

:duck: doesn't mean you suddenly turned into psyduck

and :emma: doesn't mean you literally have a physical disability.

they're graphic representations of emotions.

Representing a wheelchair in emoticon form isn't defining anybody by their disability... It's simply acknowledging that wheelchairs exist and some people get around the place in wheelchairs!

Why do you think people in wheelchairs cannot be represented in emoticon form? Why is it so offensive to you that an emoji exists that represents a person in a wheelchair?

It's politically incorrect cause it describes an individual by its physical disability and not by it's personality and inner characteristics! even if u describe someone  "a bitch" is less politically incorrent than  describing him as "the physically disabled guy".
