Is Gaga's current marketing too local?

The U.S is the biggest music market, but I completely disagree that she is only targeting the U.S.

The Oscars have HUGE rating figure worldwide, The Grammy's are watched worldwide and performances like Baku as you mentioned are more European.

She is based in the US and it would have been dumb for her not to perform at the Super bowl after getting the chance, but most of the stuff she is doing has WW implications.

Also Jazz has always been more American based really. Jazz originated in the U.S, she sang from the great American Songbook and so on. It's no surprise that C2C fared better in the U.S.

Not even, haven't you know how popular she is outside the USA?

Just because her recent activities are within the US doesn't mean her approach is too local :toofunny:

Once her official 1st single or new album released, trust that she will kick every promotions all over the globe into motion.

The ARTPOP tour flopped compared to her previous tours if I recall correctly. A huge underperformance. So did her singles too :/

All other countries can still see these performances if they want to. The Superbowl was streamed in countries around the world. And her fans from every country will of course go to the internet to watch her Grammys and Oscars performance.

Everything she does in the US affects her worldwide brand. Plus, no country has award shows that are as relevant and important as the Oscars and Grammys.

Well even though all this events are in the US, they get media coverage around the globe. I can tell you in my country (Costa Rica), which a tiny latinamerican country, every major network and journal is reporting and will report about her performance at SB, G and O.

I'm from Sydney and here is my 2 cents:

- Australia was the second country where Gaga's debut single "Just Dance" hit number one in 2008, after Canada, so Australians were amongst the first people to have Gagamania

- more Australians saw the Born This Way Ball tour than any other country, about 150,000 tickets sold. That's quite impressive for a country with such a relatively small population

- Australians have been known to fall hard and fast. But once an artist hits the stratosphere we tend to get over them just as quickly. Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Mariah Carey all had massive backlashes in Australia in the 1990s.

Australians are very informal so when we see entertainers try to become an authority on how to be a better person, it turns people off. People went off Gaga because they saw her as being too pretentious

- However I think the tide is turning. People are starting to fall in love with her new, natural persona. Gaga has proved herself to be talented and smart and self-deprecating, which we love.

Basically, we are ready to fall in love with her all over again. We have seen the light that is Gaga.
