It's nothing like when blank space was out and Taylor was ubiquitous to the point of being inescapable. I think people are actually getting a tad tired of her shtick. That said... I truly think Gaga is much more worried about the long haul right now, about how this era will affect her legacy fifty years from now. She's not just trying to "peak" again (that idea implies a fall afterward). Remember: she said about the music for LG5 that she is thinking a lot about what she wants to leave behind on this planet. Adele and Taylor Swift are still being played on the radio every half-hour, and Katy about every two hours, while Gaga is only played around once a day. Once this changes, then we'll see. Katy Perry scores another #1 hit single and she is the biggest pop girl then Taylor Swift drops an album that sells 1 million+ and she is the biggest pop girl then Madonna breaks another record on her tour and she is still the Queen. I think this is one of the biggest moments of Gaga's career, which is great for her. Gaga has carved her spot in the entertainment industry and can have a very long and prosperous career. I think she can already be regarded as a great artist of our time and I'm sure when it's all said and done she will leave behind an incredible legacy. I know this might sound "delusional" to some, but during ARTPOP she was was featured in The Louvre, had an album cover and sculpture designed by Jeff Koons, had custom lego art made by Nathan Sawaya and was able to film at Hearst Castle. Even then she was undeniably a hugely important cultural figure. People need to stop worrying about the right now and put everything into context.
