PREACH! Do NOT touch ANY word on this particular event, it would be the end of her. Just slay them all with a classic rendition.

The National Anthem is very, very tricky. The performer has to sound good AND appear respectful to the song. Some people may be wowed at the reach of vocals or how long a performer can hold a note, yet many, MANY people will become angry if they think an artist is making it about themselves (too "showy"). I hear it almost every year on the radio. The trick is to find a balance. To belt out the tune but not go over the top. They should sing from their heart, not trying to show off.

I'm sure Gaga will be brilliant and wonderfully respectful though.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Hell NO.

No word changes, no political message. Just sing the national anthem.

She will get so much backlash for changing a word or phrase. It will literally end her.

No it won't lol did it end Christina when she  forgot the  words?

Yes, it heavily contributed to her downfall. See her sales post-2011.

It WILL end her. She's already a polarizing artist which people find so easy to bash. Something of this magnitude would destroy her career.

No, I am not exaggerating.

Christina messed up and forgot some words. That was not a choice, on her part.

If Gaga purposefully changed some words at the Super Bowl, she could kiss her career goodbye!

THIS, so much!! People on here need to get their heads out of the sand. If she doesn't sing the 1814 version to a T, everything she's worked hard for over the last year will be gone in a instant. Americans do not take well to those who step on patriotism. (see: Madonna and the Dixie Chicks :rip: )

Smh. You don't change the national anthem on a stage that large. The entire world will be watching, this will literally be her most televised performance of all time and this is a huge deal. The amount of exposure this will bring her when she nails it is going to be invaluable. The people that never gave her a chance will have to this time, and she will finally prove to the entire WORLD that she is a true vocalist and not a synthetic pop act. If she were to change the lyrics or screw this up it's going to be a big deal. This performance is pivotal.

Furthermore It really bothers me that someone would want to change the National Anthem to bring "awareness" to something. Are you ****ing kidding me? This Star Spangled Banner is for everyone, not just gay people. It's the United States, not United States and the Gays.
