Meghan announces lead single "No"; March release + urban sound

“I’m just on cloud nine, because I’ve been working so hard on this album,” Trainor says. “And you know, when you’re wrapping up your album and you’re sitting with your label and they go, ‘You don’t have your singles,’ and it’s like, ‘Man, what do you mean I don’t have my single? I have nine singles!’ I left that meeting and I went to the studio and I wrote a big anthem that was called ‘No.’ And I came back to [Epic Records head] L.A. Reid the next day, with it all produced and written, and I played it for him and he played it 24 times at 9:00 PM at night, because he loved it so much. He was like, ‘There it is.’”

When asked about the song’s release date, Trainor says, “I think March. I think the beginning of March. It’s a hot minute away. We’ll probably get a music video going.” She also described the song as another anthem for the females, after smashes like “All About That Bass” and “Lips Are Movin’,” and says that she sang over a more “urban beat” this time around.

“It’s a big anthem for ladies about telling a dude, ‘Nah, I’m good—I’m out here on my own, and I’m good with it,’” Trainor says. “The scene is me in a club, and the dude comes up to me and I go, ‘No no no. I don’t need your hands all over me. I’m good. I’m gonna dance on my own with my girls.’”

Thank god its more urban. I'm sick of hearing 50's inspired songs on the radio. Not a fan of hers but interested to hear the song and see if she suffers the sophomore slump.

They told her she didn't pick the lead single yet, she told them she has 9 songs that could work as a lead, so instead of picking out of them, she just went on to record a 10th one that will be the definite lead single. She explained it better somewhere else but I don't remember where
