Zayn was always "the singer" in the group, and as such, has displayed his vocal overshadowing of the "skill" rihanna has shown. His debut was always going to have hints of 1d purely because his team doesn't want to alienate fans. It's like how Beyonce started her solo work with tracks similar to DC tracks. He will evolve musically over time and bring fans with him. Unfortunately for Rihanna, her music is dreadful, her singing is subpar and she has nothing to offer. Zayn is the lesser of 2 evils.
