Cheap thrills

For the time and age we live in now i don't think so because no one really buys album anymore. i mean the attention has been drawn towards teenagers but they would rather stream or download illegally (using free apps). The only person living now who does have the potential to smash his all-time record for the best selling album could be Adele because the sales for 21 had sold 32 million worldwide (19th best album of all time)  and this 25 album which is out not its doing amazingly well and its selling on a weekly basis worldwide 300,000- 700,000 (since the sales died down) but as soon as she releases another Hit single her albums sales prove to potentially in 2 years to become at least the top 20  best selling albums of all-time.

But is not just about sales and records. He had so many talents and uniqueness like none.

Like I said "most people". When talking about him they say he is legendary etc. he sold this much he had this many #1 songs, and that's the least important ppart when it comes to him

In terms of his icon status, probably, but I don't think for sales... Online streaming will soon enough make ARTPOP's first week sales an achievement...

Born Brave

No.. the music being made today is not worth a speck of ash compared to his material- the perfection. The craftsmanship, the showmanship, the dedication, the presentation, the talent, the artisticness, the timelessness, the appeal, the authenticity, the innovation. He broke through the ceiling and set the standard. Music today is cheaply made and marketed to people with a short attention span and want the next "new" release the moment they are done with the last one. (sound familiar?) The rate of new music and new "talent" competing for audiences has never been higher thanks to the many different outlets of music there are now.

Michael's albums were not created on a laptop and a program that anyone can buy. (FL Studio, Garageband, Ableton).

On top of it all the overall appreciation of music for being music is at an all time low. Back in the day, people liked an artist for their music, then their image, then their success. Now its reverse... this forum is a testimony to it... the primary concerns for fans of "artists(giggles)" now are Success, Image, and then the music. That's why people literally threaten to kill themselves when someone like Beck, a true artist and perfectionist comes out of nowhere off the radar and snags a Grammy for Album of The Year. It corrupts their laughable programming of what musical success is.

Obviously im not speaking about Lady Gaga, because IMHO she is the only true artist alive today that is mainstream and not an old hasbeen that is comparable to what Michael was and still is.

To be honest idk if you're being serious or not.. if you seriously think that Katy Perry could ever do anything like this I pity you... for crying out loud she had to ride in on a hideous obnoxious Lion and her backup dancer dressed as a shark got more attention than she did..
