Oh I know. I'm not challenging that their intent is to ridicule. That much is clear.

I think we should just turn the tables on them and say "No ****" rather than take offense. Use their own message against them.

But I suppose people are too wrapped up in taking offense that they don't fight back with logic.

I get where people are coming from. I'm just more interested in being indifferent or fighting back rather than taking offense.

I'm not sure if using their own message against them and stooping down to that would be the logical thing to do though :/ Yes it is immature and stupid and something to definitely cringe at, but taking offense at this isn't unfounded judging by people writing homophobic slurs over things that promote the GSA and comparing it to ISIS and other ridiculous things :rip:

If you're more passive about this then that's totally fine, people deal with things differently, but know that being indifferent isn't what is getting LGBT+ people rights, so it makes sense that people would want to fight against something that's been created just to undermine and mock another that pushes for equality and acceptance :ohno:

What makes straight pride different than gay pride? Everyone should be proud of themselves.

Let them celebrate their straightness. Who cares. The entire point of LGBT movement is for humans to respect each other for one another no matter their orientation.

People shouldn't take offense at this. They should say... "Yeah no ****".

Of course this difference will fly over the blatant self-victimization on GGD.

Because gay pride comes from a place of oppression. Not sure if you know but in the U.S., most of us couldn't even get married until last year. We still aren't allowed to give blood unless we abstain from sex for a year, a lot of us still can't adopt kids, and we have hate speech flung at us daily. So we need that movement to give us a singular voice that says "Enough!".

If they want to be proud of who they are, that's great! But, they're attaching their sexuality to it. They never had to fight to express their straightness. They've never turned the TV on and saw someone calling them vile abominations and wishing death on them purely for being sexually attracted to a certain gender. They've never been told they can't marry someone of the opposite sex just because they're the opposite sex. They didn't have to fight to express their heterosexuality and be respected, there's no need for straight pride. They have their rights.

They're perfectly welcome to join the LGBT community's fight, there's plenty of room on the rainbow for straight people, but they're doing this in protest of the GSA at their school. Their only reason is literally to be homophobic and hateful. If they were just doing it to do it, they could get a pass for just being ignorant but they're not. They're hateful.

That guy (one of the parent who worried about alternative lifestyle) is really bad at rethoric

“OK F.C. [Franklin County] if we do not ban together and stop this B.S. the next thing you know they will have a F.I.M.A. (Future ISIS Members of America) #PutGodInSchoolsPlease,” he recently wrote in all caps.

“I don’t understand it. I don’t understand where they’re coming from, and I want answers. Everybody wants answers,” he said in an interview with WBRC. “I don’t believe there should be religion or sexual preference taught in any school.”

Yeah, but read the article. They can celebrate their straightness but they are also standing in front of the GSA to try to intimidate them. They are doing it in protest of the GSA.

I don't mind them wearing straight pride cause they'll just look stupid and I won't be losing any sleep over it so be proud of whatever I guess, my problem with it is that it's being used to protest

This is the same as wearing White power or White history month shirts on MLK day or black history month. But if that happened Lawd help those people.

Funny how the gay community is still a minority that it is socially "acceptable" to degrade and poke fun at in public.

What kind of backwards...? :wtf:

Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) has been around since the 80's, why do they want to get upset now?

Because gay marriage was recently forced upon their state, a state in which a majority of voters are opposed to same-sex unions.

Gay marriage isn't forced on these people. They don't have to marry a gay person.
