What Happened to Dev?

In late 2010 and 2011, a promising new female pop star was emerging in the industry, Dev.

She first appeared on Far East Movement's #1 hit "Like A G6" in the second half of 2010 and then her first single "Bass Down Low" was released in late 2010. "Bass Gown Low" peaked at #61. Dev then experienced great success with her next single "In the Dark" which became a summer hit of 2011 and peaked at #11. Her third single was "Naked" and featured Enrique Iglesias, which peaked at #99. All of these songs were featured on her debut album The Night the Sun Came Up, which experienced release issues. It was originally supposed to be released in September of 2011, but wasn't released until March of 2012. I really thought Dev was going to be the next big thing and I'm surprised she's faded away. So what happened to her? Why did she fade away? I really enjoyed her album and thought her image was really unique.

She copied Bad Romance and was relevant for the shirt absence of Gaga from July to December 2010. That's it.

Her album is an dissapointment.

This reminds my how MANY artists back in the 2009-2012 period made a hit or two and then disappeared.

But Dance in The Dark is such a bop. To be honest it embodies everything about commercial music in that period. Like 20 years from now I believe this song could be the perfect example of what was on the radio.

Kesha has problems with her producer, I think she wouldn't have vanished if it wasn't for this.
