You like what he is saying. But he is white so he shouldn't say it. But black people are being discriminated against by whites and someone should speak up! But not a white person because they might make money if they do.

It does seem like a confusing train of thought, let me tell you.

i had this thought too. because sadly the media isnt going to listen to a black man. good thought

He's right tho. He's using his fame and privilege to send a message. There's nothing wrong about that. It's better than saying nothing and ignoring the real issues. When he rapped "Same Love" you were down on your knees for him, because it affected you. Now he's rapping about other real issues, but you are offended because he dissed your fave? Miley and Iggy are not only untalented, but also racists. I could give you 100 receipts for both arguments, but I'm on mobile.

Bye. Miley is good friends with, Mike will, big sean, pharrell, snoop, so on and so forth. You need to re-evaluate your definition of racism my dear. She may not be the most pc person to ever exist but just calling her racist is incorrect.

---

Haven't listened to the song yet but I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Hate that Macklemore will probably be crucified for it because he's white and trying to use his fame for good.

It must be super confusing to be in your head. I'm sorry but...:rip: Why shouldn't he be allowed to be part of a certain conversation, especially since he's also been accused of being white while rapping?

He is deliberately installing himself into the Black Lives Matter discussion for fame and profit.

The people in the movement have said, they don't want white people speaking for them.

There is a way to be part of the discussion without exploiting it.

It has nothing to do with "sitting on the sidelines", a line he implanted into this song to justify his money grab.

which dumbass said that? white on white discussion is better than white on black, bc white people be like "why are y'all so angry?"

whatever "exploitation" he did, he brought light to this, and that's all that's matters. The end.

How can he be in the discussion if he's not allowed to discuss an issue? It's actually ridiculous. How have we got to the point in the racism discussion where we can't even do...anything really. You keep quiet? You're bad. You speak up? You're bad. It makes no sense.

What you said makes no sense. Selling "music" has nothing to do with discussing social issues.

The "song" is simply a regurgitation of all the buzzwords we heard a million times throughout 2014 and 2015

He brought light to nothing, it was all in the light, and he jumped in front of the light and used it for his benefit.

The end.

I'll have to listen to the song I guess. It does seem like he's frustrating a lot of people. But the song can be part of the discussion. Don't like him throwing other artists under the bus though.

I've genuinely tried to listen to the song at least 7 times.

That melody in the hook is a crime against humanity

I think his intention was good at least. I don't think we'll ever know if he's doing this for attention and money or because he cares, but I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully he's trying to raise awareness. I still don't like him throwing other people under the bus who are in similar positions.

I mean, hes literally checking his privilege, so I applaud that :emma: It would be better to use his privilege to amplify the voices of other people, but i mean hes still spreading the word so i dont really fault him... its more because of his celebrity than because he personally chooses to speak himself I'd assume.

White Privilege Part I was basically "We've stolen this culture, so where do I fit in?" and it seemed an open ended question, I never really heard a resolution of any kind :laughga:

But I digress, He's a good ally even if hes sometimes problematic. At least he acknowledges that there are problems at all to discuss, unlike most of America or in general people who "love black people" and "aren't racists" and think "we are all one race, focusing on race and playing the race card only divides us!" :smh:

Another article if anyone's interested :flutter:

Dark Anatomy

Yes, because remember when he exploited the LGBT community with that disgusting song about supporting gay rights?

Yeah, you don't, because he didn't and it only bothers you when he uses his privilege to support other things.

(And no little pressters, my comment wasn't homophobic, it's called sarcasm. Lol)
