I wasn't even angry when I typed to you so temper what? :rip: I just thought you were being too harsh on the OP, by saying 'there's no point we start this topic again'. He is entitled to his own opinion and he has a right to voice it out. Besides, he wrote some good stuff and didn't just rant randomly writing pointless words. So you had no right to call his thread pointless. If only people were less like you, people could have focused on the CONTENTS OF THE OP instead of 'why ARTPOP threads should not be made'.

There you go again. Never said ARTPOP threads shouldn't be made, I'm talking about these where it's over opinion on hating or loving it rather than something specific on a song. Thanks for proving my point.

There are some little things about ARTPOP that I think would change people's views. First of all, Fashion! and Dope aren't good imo but that's a personal opinion. The album feels too brief to be called ARTPOP, idk, it feels like some tracks should be 5 mins+, especially Aura, as the intro. Sexxx Dreams should've had more intricate production, ARTPOP hee-hee's should've been so much louder, Swine should've been longer, etc. etc. but the lyrics she changed from Swinefest were all improvements imo. Sexxx Dreams Swinefest chorus was too underdone lyrically. And most people seemed happy with those versions, so..

But this is what you said:

"So there's no use in having this topic open again"

and the thing is, the OP did mention both his opinions and specific aspects of how he construes the songs, which he is allowed to.

I just joined to post my take on this.

ARTPOP is NOT a good album, objectively speaking. It's like a big fun rollercoaster ride where some of the movements jsut don't make sense next to each other. The songs can be taken alone and seen positively, I can enjoy SOME of the songs when I listen to each of them alone. The album all together just doesn't work AT ALL. It feels like 3 or 4 projects were shoved into one. It's in a way similar to Kylie's X where the album felt like a collection of both great and bad songs rather than an album, it's not even an album with ups and downs, it's just a collection of songs shoved in together. Venus/GUY/Sexxx Dreams/MJH/ARTPOP seem to belong to a project different from Aura/Donatella/Fashion!/Swine/Applause/Gypsy which is different from a third project with DWUW/JewelsNDrugs/Dope and MANiCURE is just out of place in all three projects. The 'We Could Belong Together' line in AP is nearly ironic when you look at the album.

Off the album I believe Aura, Venus. G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams (I loved the new title just 'sex dreams' sounds so cheesy), DWUW & MJH are good songs especially on their own. Applause, Fashion! and Donatella are fun but really messy songs and let's not act like Applause & Donatella make ANY sense. The album is TRASH lyrically aside from 1 or 2 exceptions (the Lord of the Flies reference in Swine & the 1984 one in Dreams>>). And I've never understood the love for Gypsy which is probably among the top 3 worst songs of Gaga's career along with Dope and JND. However, none of those songs come close to the masterpieces that you cna find on The Fame, The Fame Monster & Born This Way, which is why, as a fan I find even harder to digest this album simply because the standards bar was HIGH.

And the album's era was messy as well which didn't help it. The cover alone looked repulsive. The tracklsit doesn't make sense. Many performances throughout the era were messy. The tour had some positive sides but was mostly uninteresting and felt rushed.

Even with the tons of promo the album got (don't @ me if you're going to say that t wasn't well promoted when it got the VMAs, AMAs, The Voice Finale, SNL, the Youtube Awards all those radio appearance sin august, GMA TWICE, The X Factor UK, Graham Norton, the Japan shows and so on, the promo was there, the quality wasn't and the choices Gaga & her team made weren't good) it didn't do well and if I'm honest, I'm happy about that because both Gaga and the Monsters needed to be SHAKEN. Gaga believed in her hype way too much and the monsters were messy af during the wait for the album. However one of the highlights of my life must have been July 12 2013, when we got the announcement and I probably spent most of the rest of my summer getting hyped and just fan girling.

And I'm not going to act like "the album is too complicated for the GP" because a lot of albums with loads of metaphors/hidden meanings and so on can still do well. The album just didn't feel like a finished project but more like a mixtape and not a very good one. However we have seen the fall now comes the rebirth, and 2015 has literally been the perfect rebirth and 2016 is shaping up to become among the bets Gaga years ever.

I'll take the tea scalding hot with a pinch of sugar.

It doesn't deserve acclaim, because both me and you know it's not close to being as amazing in all aspects as other albums, except maybe for some of the production. A lot of those so called metaphors feel so forced.

So many stupid people on this thread :green::saladga:

Why can't ya'll love ARTPOP for the musical masterpiece that it was. This is the main reason I'm a Gags fan, cause of her amazing songwriting.

Thank you @Bakki Del Rey for this post.

"this topic" THIS TOPIC!!! The one where "Do you hate ARTPOP?" "Why do you hate ARTPOP?"

why don't we put all these threads in a section called "Queens take their frustrations out on each other over hating an underrated album thread".

Stop, leave me alone or I will have you infracted.

Because the GP don't care about the deeper meanings of music, songs that sound nice and are catchy get big and get most praise. ARTPOP was far more electronic than Gaga's previous albums and it sounded overproduced and bad except for a few tracks.

DWUW and Applause were hits because they sounded like 'old Gaga' G.U.Y and the album as a whole didn't attract attention because it's comprised of EDM tracks that you can't listen to casually.

G.U.Y..... A brilliant CEO-type analogy in the music video and using a sexual metaphor to call out the music industry’s need to put everything in a top 10 chart (”I don’t need to be on top to know I’m wanted”).

Sexxx Dreams (”You could turn to stone or the color of man petrified by a woman” =  Medusa)

“Lord of the Flies” reference in Swine... Hence the lyric in Swine, “Pain your face and paint his face and catch the beat.”

Plus, not to mention the amazing Bowie shout out in Fashion! (”There’s life on Mars, where the couture is beyond!”)

Lastly, ARTPOP... is one of my favorite things Gaga has ever done as a songwriter. Also, the fact that ARTPOP is not the opening track or the last track on the CD. It’s right in the middle. It’s the heart of the project.

A lot of thought went into ARTPOP.

I love your post, OP!

-I never thought about "I don't need to be on top..." in G.U.Y. being an insustry comment as well. Thanks for pointing that out.

I was also unaware of the Medusa reference and also the Lord of the Flies reference. I also was unaware of the Bowie reference! Thanks for that info as well.

I love what you said about the title track. It is lyrically and otherwise just so very remarkable! I never thought about how its being in the middle of the album could be intentional. So thanks for that too! Lol.

Finally, yes, something that cannot be denied is that a lot of thought went into ARTPOP. I guess some people think she was really down and didn't give it her best effort. But when you think of all that she is capable of, and consider everything in the OP, and more, her intention was very specific and I appreciate the concept a lot, even if it wasnt executed or accepted 100%.... To me, ARTPOP is, oh, about a 7 out of 10 as a whole, with some songs rating lower, and some higher. I think it IS a cohesive album, but can understand how some might be confused or just flat out disagree.

Idk about you, but I am SO hyped for LG5. Can't wait to hear what that wonderful mind has created for us this time.

GIRL I think you're more like proving why Gaga is a smartass (which she is). You don't really talk about ARTPOP musically. :stalkga:
