BET is racist to white people, so black people can't attack Oscars for the same shït. It shouldn't be based on skin color, it should be mixed and that's it.

But I don't want BET Awards to disappear tho', who's gonna appreciate hip-hop and R&B the way they do ;(

White approval? You can disagree and shut on fox all you want but they actually have more race and gender diversity on their show than alot of networks.

Not when Sam Smith & Lady Gaga have won BET Awards. And who the **** else is gonna give black people jobs in Hollywood?

That would not exist if minorities would have equal chances. Instead of sitting and waiting, they made award show to celebrate talented amongst themselves. Big deal. You all like to complain too much.

White people were not systematically oppressed because of their skin color, not in Europe, not in USA.

There's plenty of black people being nominated and winning the Oscars too (reference). It's not that black and white, that only whites in Oscars and blacks in BET

Stacey, or at least me, is talking about a more systematical structure. BET was started bc the black people didn't get the recognition they deserved... So something in the system was clearly missing out and the black people did something to fight that. Still, apparently, they still don't get recognized, at least on hip-hop and R&B music, that's why I'm saying BET should stay, bc that's the music I listen to, bc I see they don't get recognized that much in other awards and stuff.

At the same time, idealistically it shouldn't be a difference, so that where I agree with Stacey. All should be in the same place.

I wasn't saying a white person has never won. I'm saying that people alllllll the time place this importance on being black at the BET Awards bc it somehow makes you look more legit. I think that is self hatred tbh. 

IE: look what happened to Iggy Azalea. She hasn't said anything absolutely horrid and the BET community along with Nicki and Azealia Banks dragged her based on "alleged reports that T.I. wrote her stuff". 

But Azealia Banks is black and "legit", so she can drag whoever whenever. You didn't hear BET start an uproar about prejudice and minorities when she was being violent and gay bashing teenagers on twitter, dropping the gay F-bomb. 

That type of shot makes me not take black people seriously when they talk about prejudice today. They'll get so "offended" by a fake accent Iggy does (did the English get mad at Nicki for that???) but it's completely looked over when they say violent and horrible things about gays.

You called BET racist against white people. That is one of the most idiotic things I've read here. I'll go to another place, but before I leave I'll have to award you for most ignorant ass of the day.

And I know black people have won Oscars. I'm not 3. But if you haven't noticed, there aren't many roles black people out here. Like at all. Its serious. So networks like BET are here to give those people a chance. So you can sit. Don't get mad and try to call me mean spirited for addressing your ignorant remarks.

I don't know what it's like to be black and be oppressed, but my polish family was murdered during WW2 for being polish...my Italian family faced sever racism when they came to Chicago in the early 20s and 30s. So to say only black people are oppressed..

WTF when did I EVER say that?  

Are your polish family members being racially profiled by cops? Snubbed by award shows? Do most of them live in poverty? Were they slaves? Did they have a legal systematic oppression against them which treated them like dogs? Did they have groups of white men deessed in white who terroized their towns and raped their women? Were they hosed down in the street and killed for looking at a white person funny?

 I could go on and on and on. And once again, I have NEVER said that blacks were the only people who were oppressed.

Do me a favor and read the tiltle of this thread. Then read my post. Then do it again. MAYBE that will help you understand why my post only talks about BLACK PEOPLE.

In a perfect world where racism never existed we wouldn't have Black History Month nor would we have BET
