Gaga was really good

No seriously, she was really good.   Currently binge watching a second time and I think the first time through a lot of us were in kind of a hyper-critical mode being that it was her first real role.   Yes, she may have been a bit inconsistent in the early going but judging from interviews it sounds like she and the writers were trying to figure out the best way to play the character.  She wanted to make sure the Countess had some warmth and life to her and wasn't just a cold bitch the entire series, and she actually accomplished that.   She somehow made you root for a generally evil character which is not easy to do.

Of course she has room to grow.  However, her physical acting skills are really quite developed already, better than many seasoned actors.  She has a way with small expressions and movement nuances that many veteran actors are missing.  And whats very telling to me  is how good the actors playing against her were.   Gaga was there for them and clearly helped them live their own roles, and they responded to her.

Looking forward to her next role. :)

Shhh. You're not allowed to be positive about her acting skills, or the "rational" fans/thomases will be around soon to lecture you on your delusion :chica:

I agree. Her accent fluctuates a bit but hat probably has to do with the character still being in development during taping. And she places the emphasis wrong sometimes I feel. But that's always been my biggest annoyance directing so maybe I just focus on that too much.

I for sure was rooting for that bitch!

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

Yeah, she was great. I'd love her to tackle a more challenging role at this point, I want to see her really be able to dive into a role that's more emotionally diverse and physically challenging.

I think she did great in portraying the countess, hoping her next role will have a bit more of an expressive personality.

I watched AHS twice (I'm going to watch Episodes 11 and 12 for the second time this weekend) and I loved the show (and Gaga's acting) even more after that.  The show seems more cohesive the second time you watch it and there were plenty of hints as to what was coming if you pay attention.

What About Us

She impressed me this season. ? Like the others, I agree she has enough room to grow, but she did spectacular. I can't wait for season 6!

Promise I'll always be there. Promise I'll be the cure.

Bad Bromance

I think Gaga did a wonderful job in portraying the Countess.  I can't envision anyone else doing it, tbh.  That role fit Gaga like a glove.

My guess is that we will see Gaga portray more challenging roles in the future.  Can't wait to see what the future holds for our acting Queen!  :flutter:

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

This would be the one thing I would have someone work with her on. She understands the character, she understands how to access her emotions, she understands the specific needs of the scene/moment/line, but rushing an important sentence, or emphasizing the wrong word, can really throw off everything.

By and large, the AHS cast members (past and present) are classically trained in theater, so they understand how to speak their (sometimes nonsensical) lines in a way that makes complete sense. By comparison, Gaga's background was more in physical/emotional life.
