nikola 4,342
U.mmm....first of all its not problem that oscars dont have any black people to nominate....the problem is on holywood itsself......black people usually dont get jobs and if they get some its mostly for some small roles.....so instead attacking oscars i think they should attack hollywood....but if they do that mess would be too big......And in my honset opinion there was no good black actor thats worth being nominated......like most of black actors did good job in last years movies but in my opinion not good enough............but maybe i missed some movie so dont judgr me if i am wrong I've got an "F" and a "C" and I got a "K" too And the only thing that is missing is a bitch like "U"

It's headed to the place were we will have two academy awards for different races.....like, the goal is to unify, not promote separation. But I do agree with what she said. Demanding recognition destroys dignity. 10 hours ago, Themysciran said: okay but like, I feel like this is wrong; it feels like a kneejerk reaction. you want peace, love, and togetherness, but you are promoting a split. I don't agree with this for some reason It's easy to talk about "peace, love and togetherness" and "promoting unity" when you come from a place of privilege where YOU benefit from the togetherness and unity. How unified are we if people of color are getting literally NO recognition for their hard work in the industry? Not at all. It was high-past-time that someone of influence took a real stand against the Academy's failure to recognize people of color. I join Jada in her boycott of the Oscars and, while I wish Gaga and Warren all the luck in the world, will not be watching.
skaxboy 5,607
This seems very bratty of her. I 100% agree there's a lack of blacks in Hollywood but she and her husband have made their entire living from it. So what you don't get a nomination, boo hoo get over it. Awards aren't everything. We live in an age where every child gets a trophy for participating but as adults we should understand we won't always get recognized for good work. That happens in EVERY work field. Jada should focus her anger on legitimate social issues or world issues, not vain Hollywood awards.

Still remember when Justin got nominated and the whole black community went crazy because he is white. Lmao. The double standars. And, did those black actors dreserve the nom more than those who are nominated? Or do the Oscars have to nominate black actors just because they are black? Asking for that is the racist way imo. "The BET Awards were established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year." Like at least do a smattering of research before calling an entire network racist. That awards show was created to correct for mainstream award shows' inability to properly recognize the work of People of Color. It isn't racist at all, and if it's so easy for you to throw the word "racist" at anything that promote minorities in a world that oppresses them, you should question that aspect of yourself. You don't have to be focused on starving children in Africa to play a role in fighting against racism. Perhaps you just want her to focus on things that don't force you to come to terms with the racism that exists in what you yourself find interesting (popular culture). How is feeding starving children in Africa fighting racism? I agree there is a lack of black actors in Hollywood so I have already come to terms that racism exists in pop culture. Her boycotting the oscars isn't forcing me to think any certain way. Predominantly white actors has been an issue for a long time and I feel boycotting something since there is lack of diversity this year is ridiculous. It's not really doing anything for her cause, it's only further dividing us up.

JanPianoMusic 730
Okay, whatever, Jada (and Spike Lee). I think awards in general should be given based on achievement, not on representation. Awards weren't made to represent people, they were established to award achievements! The Academy awards are given based on what a few thousand people in the business think. Who even said that nobody in the Academy voted for Creed, Straight Outta Compton, Samuel L. Jackson (, ...)? It could've been 40/60! Also, the figures "94% white" "77% male" and "median age of 62" are constantly being thrown around. The study that provided these figures was conducted four years ago but that is never mentioned. I'm not saying that suddenly 1/4 of the Academy is people of colour and half of them are female and the median age is 44, but I do think that it needs to be mentioned that "a couple of years ago, a study proved that ..." I find it also hilarious that people think people of colour will automatically vote for actors, actresses, writers, producers and directors who have the same skin colour. People are acting as if these are the first two years in a row where there haven't been any people of colour nominated in the major categories. It's been a while, sure. Either way, people are going to complain whatever happens. You will never please everyone.
JackTheTripper 866
Listen, first and foremost there are alot of great actrors who newer get recognition (EVER), and to say that the acadamy is racist beacuse it takes the power and dignity from people of color beacuse somebody isnt nomibated is a serious accusation. This to make is the same as when Nicky acoused the VMA for beaing racist beacuse video of her showing her asshole didnt get recognized as video of the year. Didnt LUpita won in 2013th as it was The 12 years of slave won the best picture award. Listen the fight for equality is importend and we all must fight it and judge it when we see it, but beacuse you arent nominated for best actor isnt the case. Fight discrimination when you see it, there are alot of actors who are better and supperior than Jada(who really inst much of tha actress), and yet those actors are always humble and greatfull to be working. Lets not foget waht discimantion is, beacuse in todqy wold people like to make up their own definiton. Same as feminism- if you are showing your asshole on instagram in order to make more milllion- thar has nothing to do with female empowerment... but ebacuse people use accusation on evrything this -sometimes stops the dialogue or honest critic. And if we are fair, lets judge the poeple based on their work and not based on their skin color. Jade you suck at acting-thats wahy you ddint get Oscar, if sombody gives you and oscar because you are black and purly on that cae -now thats is a racism. Sit down

Yes I know we can relate to characters with different races but the director or the movie creator is white and hes obviously projecting himself on the characters and movie so he will most likely do a movie based on white main characters. We are born into different environment and cultures and thats a beautiful thing and everyone should share that culture instead of making everything diverse. I'm sorry but I never accused anyone of racism. I just see there isn't much diversity and I understand why. I'm all for celebrating different cultures and I don't want filmmakers to make everything diverse just for the sake of it. I guess I disagree with you when you say white filmmakers relate better to white actors. It might be the case, but if it is, I hope it will change a bit. That's all I'm saying. According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch
