They've been clear and honest since day one about who did what. Linda just made a big deal out of sharing her opinion on the matter.

And I feel like the media and others will run with it, and turn this into something else, even though the Oscars credit both composers and songwriters of said song.

Yuuup. No matter if that was her intentions or not that's what'll happen. This sucks.

I don't get it though. How does that end anything?

It still doesn't explain why Gaga's credited as main writer, it still doesn't explain if we should even see her as a co-writer (since Linda's claim that she only changed one sentence still stands unaddressed by Gaga's statements) and if she deserved the credit on top of her full producer credit.

So /end? Not so much.

The Academy Award for Best Original Song is one of the awards given annually to people working in the motion picture industry by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). It is presented to the songwriters who have composed the best original song written specifically for a film. The performers of a song are not credited with the Academy Award unless they contributed either to music, lyrics or both in their own right.

it seems that gaga already said that she didnt really write **** on this track

I'm glad you posted this because I was thinking about that exact quote as soon as I read this thread. Like I'm not sure why everyone is pissed at what Linda said?

It's not really that bad what she said, we know Diane was the real main writer of TIHTY.

Gaga was the producer and made changes to the melody and chord progression so she deserves writing credits. Diane was the brains behind the song though and she wrote the lyrics and had the general structure already so I don't see it as some huge insult for her to be named the "songwriter" over Gaga.

Linda seems to have a lot of respect for Gaga too, so I don't think Linda is gunning for her.

I guess It's worth noting that Gaga's odds have gone down by 5% in the latest update....

She's creating a controversy over something that Gaga and especially Diane have been very upfront about since the beginning. The song was written by Diane and Gaga put her own spin on it when they recorded it. I don't see the problem here...so now it's a problem because they're nominated for an Oscar? Neither have misrepresented this situation like Linda seems to be hinting that they are...I don't understand this at all.

It seems that both artists didn't contribute as much to the writing as we expected (since the song already existed lyrically). It is possible that Gaga only wrote one or two lines while Dianne wrote a bit more but it's pointless to argue about that since Gaga and Diane wanted the song to be taken as an efford of both. Who should get the praise in your opinion? :koons:

Are you trolling right now?

WE  made some changes. Since she contributed to the song she must get credit for this. Why are you in denial over a fact?

People get credits on songwriting even if they've written one word and i'm sure Gaga didn't just change a word but she also produced the song and changed some parts of the melody.

They need to deal with this calmly and carefully. Emphasis on Gaga producing.

That's the thing though, Linda's saying that the whole "collaborative" act was a promotional tactic. I'm not saying Gaga and Diane are frauds or something but I think people are missing Linda's point: it's about the forging of credits that bugs her, especially when it's done just to get more promo/award noms/wins.

I don't even disagree with what she said but the timing and the way she's making such a big deal out of it makes her come off as very bitter specially because this could possibly tarnish Gaga's and Diane's chances of winning.

Fun Fact: The K in KPop stands for "Kate Bush"
