BUT, what I think a lot of people are failing to realize is that THERE IS some ice and sourness to her statements, and I believe this is the reason why. Linda claimed in one of her multiple tweets that she has "The Original Demo" of the song and that "Another Artist" was supposed to sing the track. Why would Linda randomly have a copy of the demo? My thinking is that Linda was supposed to originally sing the song, but Dianne opted for Gaga. Now she's a bit bitter because it's gaining attention and an oscar nom. What are your thoughts on this? Could this be the reason why Linda was feeling so "spunky" and decided to speak her #truth? Well she didn't end up singing the song so she is acting like a sore loser, a spoiled brat, very unprofessional! Sister you decided not to do the project! . Lady Palutena 3,147
I was going to say something to a few select salty posts but then I remembered "Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? I'm not gonna waste my time trying to change it." Linda may be right or she may be wrong. I'd like to hear this so-called demo that she has, though. Diane has said that she wrote the song herself, however we do not know everything that happened during 'Til It Happens to You's recording so we really do not know how much of the song was changed and by who. But I think if Diane says that it's a collaboration and she felt Gaga deserved songwriting credit then we should leave it at that. Also, some of you should have more faith in Gaga, I don't believe for one minute that Gaga would claim songwriting credits for something she didn't have a significant amount of involvement in. That is all, carry on GagaDailyans Adoremus in caelum, Palutena. Dea luminis.

Katy Perry, Madonna, The Flaming Lips, MIA, Demi Levato, and Adam Levine etc have all dissed Gaga.

Bette Davis 12,742
It's a shame to see Linda Perry acting like such a spoiled, bratty child. She's really talented and has written quite a few songs that I really love. Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.
Miel 15,009
Quick question on technicalities- wouldn't compositional arrangements also count towards a writing credit? 3 points in and ready for more

No. If that were the case Stephen Oremus would also have a credit - he arranged the strings.

I think the Oscars will nominate you if you compose, which Gaga technically did since she produced the song and created the melody. Production doesn't count. One famous example is Madonna's Sooner or Later winning an Oscar but going to Stephen Sondheim (the writer) alone, even though Madonna produced it. The Oscars just nominate whoever has the right credits. They don't check or whatever. Gaga had a writing credit and that was it.

Expressly excluded from eligibility are all of the following: http://www.oscars.org/sites/oscars/files/88aa_rules.pdf So does that mean that Gaga would've received the nomination regardless since she created the melody? I've been seeing people saying that but idk if that counts as a compostion or not. It's science, bitch

Well, she didn't create the melody (whoever's saying that is just straight up lying) herself, so that's not it, she just received the nomination because she's one of two principal writers (actually she's credited as the main writer, over Diane, everywhere). The only relevant exclusion here is "partial contributors", that would probably refer to a writer just changing a few words/notes or whatever, hence "not responsible for the overall design of the work" (this is where Linda's comments become relevant: she obviously thinks Gaga wasn't responsible for the overall design [as in overall composition] of the song).
