Well, to me Kit had at least the reason to exist as that only one, purely good and sane main character whose moral rules didn't change throughout his whole life. And how there wasn't any logic to him ?

Because of his "pure soul" he was the only one being able to actually forgive Jude and take her out from there just when the very last portion of sanity was left in her and take care of her.

His story with aliens was the best they could do with the whole concept of aliens. They didn't say about them basically anything and that save them from going in some cringy, try-hard story about extraterrestial life.

And really, now try to compare Kit to Kyle from Coven..............................................

On the other hand, I don´t understand the love for Assylum, it felt so messy with all the alien stuff, random human hocus pocus just for fun, random christmas serial killer and a really random exorcism, it was just like out of nowhere, there comes a boy possesed by the devil, no explanation, nothing, and then suddenly Lily Rabe is possesed...

I didn´t like Assylum that much, there were just too many things going on, it was a hell of a chaos, the setting was awkward and it got really weird towards the end of the season, as if there was too much resolution, I don´t know how to explain what I mean, but since Jessica Lange went nuts and got locked there, it didn´t feel like a horror at all and while in Hotel the last episode felt like an epilogue, in Assylum the four last episodes felt like it  

I can understand that you all love it cause it was dark, but it was just at the beginning of the season which was already too complicated, before it launched into a complete mess  

So, for me it´s

Hotel > Murder House > Coven > Assylum > Freakshow (yeah, FS still at the end of it all, cause it was mostly just boring  )

yes but the aliens were just thrown in and were undeveloped and unresolved, much like the addiction demon in this season. 1. i find aliens stupid and 2. the fact that they were random made the last episodes really bad for me. 

Kit to Kyle was a serious downgrade hahaha poor evan, but he definetly got an upgrade with DR March

i agree. it was dark but not THAT dark. but maybe im biased because i can tolerate really really dark things, and i watched with the idea of it being very horror, when it is not. the ending was a bit messy and the alien stuff wrecked it for me. it felt like miss used potential at the end. and it was not the "good messy" like murder house that it had nothing connecting the episodes until the end, but was still simple and darkish. its not a bad season, but Coven still takes the first spot for me, murder house second and Hotel and Asylum tied in third.

I mean, "aliens" is just a very slippery topic and imo the best you can do as a writer is leave as much as possible to the imagination of viewers, otherwise it becomes just too much (another example of not overdoing "the aliens" theme is the last Indiana Jones, it was just enough imo)

I was very sorry for Evan in Coven... his character after coming in to the witches house was absolutely pointless and pathetic. Mr. March was the best written role for him + they finally gave him a mature character, not some teenage boy to play.

well, if it is such a slippery topic why include it. no aliens Asylum would´ve been my favorite. When i first saw the promo pics of Dr March i was disappointed in his look, he seemed too tacky, but after his accent and acting i was so impressed. by far his best character and season

I see what you mean, but I still liked how they tied aliens subplot with dr Arden "taking care" of Kit because of them and even sis Jude when she thought she also lost her mind after seeing them. But I agree it still was kinda nonmatching stylistically with the rest of the subplots.

Evan's first mature character, Sarah's first evil role and getting rid of Jessica's annual "the boss of the season" role were The 3 greatest ideas of Hotel in terms of characters' writing, just because of that this season felt a little bit fresher and different from the others

freakshow is called the worst by coven lovers 75% the time which basically means their opinion doesn't matter since they like coven. 

if i had to rank them then: murder house - hotel - asylum - freak show - coven

people bitch about crap in freak show that happened in every other season.

They're all on Hulu (except for Hotel).

I think I might watch them in order so I don't miss any themes that carry from season to season (for example, ghosts not being able to leave the place they died. I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't been reading the threads here about it).

I think a lot of people don't like Freak Show because it turned from gasps to yawns. 

I think this season is very strong -- the characters are great, the acting is magnificent (as always), development is great -- but it's just not "American Horror Story," you know? There's not enough scares. The characters aren't as gripping. There isn't a single, unified threat, or at least any that poses a real significant danger. And there's definitely waaaaay less Ryan Murphy shock value than in the previous seasons. 

Freak Show, to me, feels more like a slow-paced character drama. 

After thinking about it... Freak Show disturbs more than it scares, if that makes sense.

I personally loved Freak Show and enjoyed it very much. It barely beat out Hotel for my third fave season

I think that Freak Show was just quite boring at the beginning and ended nowhere. Unlike Hotel, the characters who popped up in the various episodes seemed to have an important role in the story but they ended up nowhere. FS was Jessica Lange in full glory, no more than that. Her rendition of Elsa Mars is wonderful+ the relationship with Massimo is truly beautiful. But overall I think that is the worst American horror story season overall. Then there comes Coven (which was more funny than scary at some points, but I liked the fact that the story is quite cohesive) , then Asylum & Hotel (Asylum was way too dark, Lily Rave was a total highlight but the whole alien thing didn't make any sense) . Murder House remains unbothered. It was very good, scary at the right point.

Asylum > Murder House > Freak Show > Coven > Hotel

I don't think aliens were necessary, but the dark atmosphere of Asylum is absolutely amazing, it's the most emotional season of them all in my mind. Watch Murder House if you like teen drama. I wouldn't call Freak Show boring, it's just that there is no paranormal stuff in it, just real human madness, vanity, etc.

Hotel is just plainly bad, sorry. Coven is messy, but many people love it.
