That's not what we are saying at all. ?

It's the same though.

Talent and perforamce / work is what matters, not skin color. If no black people deserved to be nominated this year, none will be. If 5 black people do amazing stuff next year, let there be 5 black nominees. It's not like there hasn't been black nominees and winners in the past so I don't see where this all comes from

Saying "Talent always wins" is racist. Sorry.

I don't think they meant that black people haven't got talent :omg: I think they meant that the most talented people were nominated regardless of colour, and it just so happens that this time all of them were white. I'm sure nobody here actually believes in a correlation between talent and colour :laughga:

So if you are sick of it, why do you respond? Why don't you just let us "complain" and move on with your life? It's not affecting you at all.

Cause it hurts my eyes to see people complain about irrelevant things when worse things (even related to racism) happen in the world yet no one has time for that, only to complain about a stupid award shows and things like that

and now I also responded because I keep getting notifications so do me a favor and stop quoting me pls :green:

It's deeper than that. There is an obvious bias in these award shows and society as a whole. 32 African Americans have won at the oscars in its entire history... That's insane to me. Will Smith, Ryan Coogler, and Samuel L Jackson were definitely snubbed this year.

Its just hilarious to me that people will be like "Maybe no Asians deserved it this year," "Maybe no blacks deserved it this year," and etc. But once a minority is nominated for an award it's "well the academy is just doing that to not seem racist/sexist/homophobic" BUT we never see that with a white male win/nomination. It's truly sad.

I'll just say one more thing, the things that "don't matter" do add up in the equation. Do you think that someone who observes this and has a discussion about it does not see the other things in the world? I am upset by the whitewashing but it's not going to hinder me from realizing and trying to take action and having discussions about other human rights issues around the world... So instead of a assuming, I'd say LISTEN.

How every person meant that was not "the coloredpeople are talentless" it was BLATANTLY saying the nominations were based on their performances NOT RACE.

Again.it is the nature of the machine making movies not the ones dictating awards. but go ahead slap a big ole whiney band aid on it instead of discussing how FEW actors of color get nominated.

Not just black, all races. This isn't a cry of all lives matter its a cry of stand up for all minorities not being recognized

Whilst I may not agree with some of  your points it is very refreshing to see an actual intelligent debate/discussion rather than 'You're all racist'.

There were 305 eligible movies but the entire 20 nominations were white. Isn't that mind-boggling to say the least?

The talent > colour discourse is a terrible way of justifying this as Jennifer Lawrence (who's performance received mixed reviews critically) was nominated for the 4th year, while actors such as Idris Elba and Michael B Jordan in Beast of No Nation and Creed respectively (who both received acclaim for their performances) were heavily snubbed.

How can you say they were whitewashed two years in a row when last year Glory happened? :wtf:

Also there are SOOO many people deserving of nominations. It just happens that this year, many of them were White/European. Do you realise how much trouble The Academy would be in if they were in fact racist? Everybody would lose their ****. I think this is just dramatic. To be honest, giving a nomination to anyone based on their skin colour is also considered racist. It's ALL based on talent here.

If this is the case, then at least Gaga has an opportunity to win since she's white:awkney:

JK. But on a more serious note, I think it goes both ways. I mean, does seem a little "whitewashed" but people, like always, over exaggerate.

Then wouldn't the nomination committee be whitewashed and not the Oscars themselves?:stalkga:

Or the nomination committee is the same as the ones who vote for the Oscars?:neyde:

But J. Law just scored ger 4th nomination while there were several other acclaimed black roles which werw ignored.

And? Gaga should not be nominated because she is white? Jennifer should not be nominated because she is white and she already won? It doesnt work like that. Oscar isnt racist. The problem is that the number of movies with afro-american characters and actors is smaller. This is the same reason why actors of certain age have problems getting nominated, especially for lead roles.

I'm not the most knowledgeable on this subject but I believe the AMPAS are responsible for both the nomination and the winners of the Oscars. I think it works the same way many other award shows work; the committee nominates people and when the list is shortened down to the nominations we see - they then choose the winner(s) from each category.
