New Delhi, Jan. 13: India was tonight expected to wait till tomorrow afternoon for confirmation of the detention of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar in Pakistan before deciding whether to join foreign secretary talks scheduled for Friday, capping a day of rare action by Islamabad that prompted a rethink in New Delhi.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's office today afternoon issued a statement detailing arrests of "several individuals belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed", the terror group India insists was behind the Pathankot terror attack.

The Indian foreign office said late night it had not yet received any official confirmation of the detention of Azhar.

Azhar had been arrested once earlier too by Pakistan after India provided evidence linking him to the 2001 Parliament attack.

But within a year, Azhar's detention was tweaked to house arrest, and the Jaish leader was subsequently let off. Pakistan refused to hand him over to India.
