She's a controversial figure for simply being an activist re: LGBT causes and rape culture, nonetheless her outfits or music, so I don't think she'll ever have the GP back completely. She's more appreciated now because she has toned down her image a lot but once the pop music is back, I think you'll see who is Judas and who isn't. Even her cover with Kinney for V99 received a lot of backlash from non-fans calling her pretentious, whacky, ugly, etc.., but her presence at the 'Globes helped simmer that down. Like most other legends, everyone has an opinion of her. A strong one at that. It's better that way, than universal applause all around. If everyone loves you then you're doing something wrong

She's gained sympathy from the GP again, since she's not everywhere like she used to be when people got tired of her... That doesn't mean all these people will buy her new songs and purchase her album, we will have to wait and see when LG5 is out.

What I'm sure of is that LG5 will be her best record yet, I don't care if it's successful to the GP or not. Another thing I'm certain about is that even if LG5 is not a big succes or even a commercial faiulre worse than ARTPOP, it just will not receive the same backlash ARTPOP got, so we can be relaxed about that!

YouTube comments are the scum of human existence jizzing their impotent rage into the void of cyberspace... why would anyone use them as a standard against which to judge the "general zeitgeist"

Right? Let me go dig up some yahoo news comments and make a thread about it.

Agreed. Less pressure this time around. It's going to be all about the music.

thats a very bold statement to make

It's been 4 albums and she still didn't manage to top her debut

I'm certain about it somehow. But you're right I could be wrong. The problem here is that I don't think many artists in history have achieved success in the level of "phenomenon" so quickly, quite like Gaga did with The Fame.

The Fame is my favorite album too, but I could understand someone who disagrees and believes that TFM topped it, or BTW did, even ARTPOP, and I used to be an ARTPOP detractor. But looking back with a clearer mind after the drama, it's a great album. All her albums are great, it's not about the quality of the music during The Fame that outstands its companions, it's about the way things were handled.

An incredibly talented girl making normal pop tunes that speak about regular issues with no pretention will always be more attractive to regular people than an artist trying to sell pop music as if it were a piece of art hanging in the Louvre.

Same! Used to hate ARTPOP and rate The Fame as Gaga's best. Now my favourite changes all the time. All Gaga's records are masterpieces. Just different in theme, sound, aesthetics and texture.

You accused someone of making a bold statement when it was you yourself who made the bold (and subjective) statement that none of Gaga's albums have topped The Fame. Many fans think otherwise, rating Monster, Born This Way or ARTPOP as better than The Fame.

So you're a hypocrite. And you literally don't understand the meaning of the word 'literally'.

That's a bold statement too since most fans and critics put The Fame Monster over The Fame. Also The Fame has the same metascore as Born This Way which is also usually more appreciated by fans.

pop fans are obsessed with the GP because they are crazy obsessed with chart positions and numbers.  Singers that are that way are more concerned with producing product than art.  Artists just want to find their audience, that understands them.  Of course they'd like the biggest possible audience, but a core group of fans that understands who they are and what they do is more important than trying to grab the "GP" at every opportunity.
