From what she says, she seems to think there was nothing wrong with Bowie engaging in sexual acts with a minor because of who he was. She didn't think there was a reason to press charges, so she never did. Victimizing a person who has nothing but good things to say. The problem with attitudes like this is that it completely ignores the will of the "victim." "O, you had a great time and feel great about it? But you were only 15 you bitch, he raped you! FEEL BAD!" It must be some delusional sense of justice, because it's not protecting the "victim" in this case.

The point is that if this happened, it was statutory rape, regardless of whether she thought she was giving consent or not. What I was saying about her was that she didn't think there was anything wrong, so she never spoke badly of him or pressed charges, but that doesn't mean there wasn't anything wrong with the fact he was having sex with an underage girl. If finding out that David Bowie had a sexual relationship with an underage girl ruins his music for you, then do yourself a favor and never research the private lives of your favorites artists, or you will be doomed to die in an art-free world. You will just walk around art museums covering your face and sobbing. Edger Allan Poe married his first cousin when she was only thirteen years old. Leonardo da Vinci, Walt Whitman, Oscar Wilde, Michelangelo, Christopher Isherwood, all had sexual and romantic relations with boys who would now consider to be underage. Do you like Alice and Wonderland, I hope not, because the author was a pedophile. Diego ****ed Frida when she was his student. Does Caravaggio being a murder prevent you from enjoying his paintings? Does William Burroughs having shot his wife in the face prevent you from reading Naked Lunch? If you only want to consume art that was created by perfect people then you will have to stick to reading The Bible. Oh wait, Mary of Nazareth was only fourteen when God forcibly impregnated her. Guess ya'll will have to torch the Bible too. I mean, that's not how I interpreted the article. I still like Bowie and admire his influence, but seeing as his character was part of his artistry, it's hard to separate his actions from his art. That is to say, I will celebrate his influence while keeping in mind that we must be critical of our idols and not glorify everything they do/did.
