judxs 762
I kind of understand what you mean... @Ronlop I'm happy that she won, but I kind of feel like it was very forced. It's just my opinion but I don't think her acting was as good as Kirsten Dunst in Fargo, so I was really shocked when she won. She's been great in AHS but come on, we can't expect her acting to be on the same level as the rest of the nominees. I feel as though the HFPA swayed more towards Gaga because it was her debut, rather than her performance actually being better than the rest of the nominees. Nevertheless, congrats Gaga. I just hope she wins an award in a few years for a much more worthy acting performance and the public actually agree that she deserves it too. DrewStevens 5,249
"We all know these awards shows mean nothing at the end of the day" Maybe not for you but it probably means a lot to her. You have weird perception of what it's important for her and what's important for the public. The peak of the night for her wasn't when Leo made a funny face as she bumped him, the peak of the night for her was when she won the award. What the public chooses as a favorite moment shouldn't be perceived as hers. She belongs wherever her work is appreciated. I don't think anyone should decide where someone belongs. VenusBlackStar 1,301
It's alright to feel what you feel if it's genuine, though I disagree about the highlight of the night being Leo making a funny face. The highlight was her winning the award, having the pure joy on her face recorded on camera forever, having that moment to look back on and remember. She worked hard to do the best she could do. Interviews revealed how much time and effort and commitment she put into her role and that's something admirable, the mark of a true and disciplined artist. She grew into that role and refined it as time went on. And about that idea Kanye expressed about award shows...I think I understand where I'm coming from, but I partially disagree with it. I think award shows like that, being nominated and earning an award for artistic output I think serves as a motivator for the artist to do his or her best work in the hope of earning that award. I read in a tribute magazine about Michael Jackson that came out soon after he passed in 2009. Michael wasn't satisfied with the awards he got for "Off the Wall" so he pushed himself harder, and what came from that was "Thriller," and we all know the rest. RAYA.core 813
But damn did Ryan and Brad do a goddamn good job for a first role for her... It's something big to earn. During her first and 2nd ep on AHS i never thought she would have even been recognized truth. But i'm happy and celebrating. They should have sat her closer though... elijahfan 26,036
You guys think way too much sometimes....... Can't you just be happy, idk? And... excuse me? Not where Gaga belongs in and not what she's about? Her whole musical career is an acting masterclass.
Dangerous Man 9,245
I don't get why some of you make this a big deal and make some drama when it is time to celebrate. I swear many fans are so annoying sometimes with this kind of reaction. I'm out, bye. "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body." Sam Dey 1,847
i'm happy for her and i do think that she kinda belonged there since she wanted to be an actress all her life.. her winning the actual award instead of Queen Latifah or Kirsten Dunst on the other hand.... did feel kinda unnatural and even fake tbh But i feel you.. I hope this was temporary and I can't wait for her to return to music
Runway 27,876
You mean G0dga made leonardo relevant on social media for a night As for her iconic GG win, I'll stick to the official receipts: she snatched bitches bald
deeman 189
I do remember him from a film called the beach. It did seem like a bit of a hit piece on alternative communities. Anyway it has a score of 19% on rotten tomatoes but was at the time heavily promoted in the media.
George 363
She comes from the theatre. One of the reasons her live performances are so praised everywhere is because she brings musical theatre to them, she acts and performs on stage. Her just jumping into acting was extremely expected, the amazing part is she was good enough at it to be awarded: she feels belonging there. And kid... I could give two cents if she is winning the gp or the pope or obama back. She is winning herself back Hello, it's me
RAMROD 109,262
Well, I am guessing you feel that way because you feel you want to see more of her before winning any of these awards? But sometimes newbies win at first strike, how is that contrived? Because she is already famous before winning this award? Do you even consider she was learning theatre art at TISCH and had been at stage play in her school before she bailed for music? There are a few people that won prestigious awards at first strike and some of them education in acting. Example of recent mind is Lupita Nyong'o, her role in 12 Years A Slave was brief but she still deserve it. Same with Gaga, there is nothing contrived about it. When you are shooting star, you burns. IMHO, the problem is you might not have confident, the trust in her (at least in acting field), maybe because you saw she was nominated with few other much more senior and well experienced actresses and watching her blew them out of the water worries you that people will cry foul play about it? But her victory are still as valid as anyone who won ot in the past. She was doing great job potraying The Countess. She was supposed to be a cold, lack of emotion, and cruel character, she potraits Countess just perfectly the way she should. B.S are those who said she didn't even act. Nemo 4,291
I was happy until I read the haters. And then Bowie died. No idea what you're on about calling that "the peak of the night for her".
REALITY 76,264
I definitely see what you mean. My first, initial, reaction to her winning the award was honestly "She probably just won because she's Lady Gaga." Though, I've learned to accept it, and that isn't my opinion anymore. Now I believe that Gaga truthfully deserved that award. On the topic of whether or not this may seem "contrived" of Gaga, I personally don't think it does. Gaga's always been more than your average, everyday pop star. She's been, and always will be a true artist. Over the course of the past couple of years, we've seen that: from singing with Tony Bennett, to getting to debut in American Horror Story, to finally getting to do what she really feels passionately about. Gaga's changing right in front of us, and while it might seem "contrived" for her to be at a place like the Golden Globes, to even win an award, I believe it isn't. She's really becoming like a "Cher", and I cannot complain about that. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
DontDoubtDavid 1,191
I agree with you. Like, I'm happy for her, but something about it rubbed me the wrong way. Idk, she didn't seem that surprise to win, like she already knew...

Your post deserves 1,000 paws up, babe! You totally put things into perspective and I completely feel the same way you do. IMO, Gaga deserved her award for the sole fact that it was her very first major acting role and she took quite a risk with the role of The Countess. I couldn't be more proud of our Queen of Music!! I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.
